A little Silicone spray lubricant will fix it. It worked great on the hips of mine.

 

I... got it. I had to put it back into the arm/forearm a bit and it ratcheted back. Was getting caught on itself I guess.

There's little play between the ratchets. Standing him up straight shouldn't be a problem though.

I didn’t expect him to be “fun” when I purchased it (most unwieldy things are not - and he’s not haha); but he looks amazing and I’m quite happy and content!

 

I'm still impressed at how they were able to minimize the parts forming.

gabriel is one of my favorite bots. he is just so damn fun and very impressive in hand.

 

DX9 had a prototype of the Omega Sentinel repaint of Gabriel on display at one of the shows some time ago, but they never went forward with it. They probably didn't think it would sell well enough. I eventually got the Omega Sentinel repaint of Terminus Giganticus when BBTS lowered its price to that of Gabriel's.

i would assume so since we haven't heard anything. that first batch felt like it was cursed from the get go.

What was the going price for this guy the first time around from overseas sellers? I'm trying to determine if I want to bite or not late in the game... He's kinda gray area for my collection goals.

 

Is there anything you're missing on Gabriel that the more expensive FansToys provides? I am leaning toward buying this guy, but have the screwed up feeling that more expensive usually means better. Tell me I'm wrong, please.

 

To be fair, you're probably not going to get the most unbiased opinion asking in either one's thread... But it sounds like they're both decent products and it could largely come down to aesthetic preference and/or price. Doesn't sound like one is vastly superior to the other.

 

whatever you do don't get frustrated and try to be too foreceful on the hip joints. be careful with the shoulder joints, elbw joints, and the hip joints. if you use TOO much force, they'll snap right off. be patient. it's a fantastic toy, just requires a little force and a little patience.  

 

Do it man. You won't regret it. He's a phenomenal display piece and commands the shelf.

Regards the blue repaint I just can't see it happening anymore sadly. DX9 are hardly prolific these days and the deep discounts on FT20G won't have gone unnoticed.

 

That's a very good point - I guess I figured that if I were to choose one thread though, y'all might be more even-handed than the FT folks (a group that, admittedly, I am often in).

I know opinions are like assholes but DX9 makes the better Omega but FT makes a damn fine older looking and slightly bulkier (from the front) Guardian:



The main thing I dislike about the FT version is how the backpack/shoulder pads unhook so easily.

 

Shochwave's Omega Guardians were always such ugly fatasses too.   Can't say I persoanlly ever saw the appeal for them.

For what it's worth, I don't have either. If I buy one, it would be this one because it's cheaper and more toon accurate...and like I said, quality-wise, they're comparable from everything I've read. There might be some tolerance things with this one or some stability things with FT, but neither is a pile of crap from what I recall.

I'm honestly afraid I'd regret it... I'm VERY much winding down in my collecting habits and am currently trying to unload most everything shy of my MPs. I'm not nearly as into it as I used to be, this guy falls outside my defined collection goal (but can still still loosely fit inside it,) and he's a considerable cost...not to mention would be a pain in the ass to unload due to his size and shipping. Reasons I'm considering it...I've sold a decent amount of my non-MP collection so I have funds burning a hole in my pocket...and I'd get 13% bucks back. Looks like $260 is the current best price from a reputable looking seller. My struggle is I could put that money instead toward another bass guitar I'm currently jonesin' for...but I have too damn many of those, too. I'm sure I'd get more use out of the bass, though. Playing it twice would accomplish that...
