The Toys R Us Australia website has seen an update which includes a countdown a news article and an FAQ

Looks like just an online store for now, and under a different company than before. But this still seems like good news to me.

Only if they can get their pricing in line and better compete with likes of the other stores. Fingers crossed for now.

This is terrible. Hobby Warehouse price gouges to HELL and back, even more than TRU did... unless you think that $25.99 is an acceptable price to buy Legends class Groove at.

    Jeez, that sounds pretty bad.
If that’s the kind of prices they end up charging through their online Toy R Us store. I don’t see them sticking around too long

Then you dont understand what is different between TRU and stores like Walmart.

TRU priced high because toys were the only thing it sold. The store had to make money obviously.

Walmart, Target, etc. Can price at MSRP or lower because they aren't reliant exclusively on toy sales. If anything, they are loss leaders because they make boatloads of money from wholesale food purchases and so can cover a reduced income from toys.

The margins on toys in general is insane. Like, a $10 toy sold, $7-8 goes to the store. TRU was ran poorly. o_O

I hope its just a currency difference. But, something looks vaguely familiar to the old TRU pricing structure here...those that love TRU - enjoy it. I just feel bad for those that feel obligated to pay such a higher price for things...when it comes down to it, its just another web site on the internet selling toys available on many others. IMHO - may the best price win!
