? It looks fantastic. Have you seen G1 Prowl's car mode lately?

If you're referring to Siege Prowl's car mode, then yes, this is leagues above that thing.

It might have the G1 look but there are a lot of things "off" about it. As @lilcarus mentioned, the too-high windshield is one. For another, the white rear panel above rear wheel well has an upward curve to it which feels weird - that part, just below the rear window, should be flat/level. Also the rounded shoulder joint pieces near the back of the hood are visually distracting. Compared to Newage's Prowl, which really knocked it out of the park, this is coming up lacking for me. Even Magic Square's, of which we have only seen prototypes, is looking more refined than this.

As more proof that this Legends scene is moving fast, a year ago I would have easily been all over this, but now this one is ranking a distant third.

you are right about the legends scene moving super fast. but my thing is why make such a distracting joint for the backwings. all they really need is a ball swivel. yet this prowl mold has some really out of place round socket in the hood and it throws off this little bot even more.

OK thanks for clarifying. Those are non-issues for me.

Perhaps they incorporated a bit of the real world Datsun, and there is were the curves on the rear panels come from. Ball joints exposed aren't optimal, but I don't see the issue with the windshield. Doesn't look high to me. Keep looking for how that could be.

I am just looking at this objectively as a piece on its own. It looks great to my eye.

Prowl is my favorite Transformer, so I am enjoying the heck out of the New Age (but I feel he has a ton of issues with proportions in robot mode). Magic Square looks great but is missing the iconic wing tips. Can't wait to have this version in hand.

That's cool man, everyone has their preferences. :)  I'm not ruling this one out completely, Prowl is my favorite character too so odds are I'll end up getting this one too. But so far, I'm not that impressed with the alt mode, compared to other Legends options available.

To be clear about the curves, I was referring to the parts I've circled in red below. It's really nitpicky I know, but for whatever reason my eyes keep going to that part. The bottom of the real-life window looks straight to me, while HS has made that window curved at the bottom.

Also now that I notice, the vents on the hood appear to be missing - insead there are slots for the shoulder launchers to peg in.

And for direct comparison, below is what Newage gave us.

Oh ok. We all have things that we quirk out about. Its interesting to hear people's opinions to be honest.

The vents are there just not painted on this Prowl release. They were painted on the prototypes from earlier in the year.

The peg holes in the hood and the balljoints visible on the sides may be dealbreakers for me. It helps that I've already got the NA Datsuns and this guy was going to be a just for the heck of it figure that wouldn't fit in any particular collection. I did kind of want to try to do a toy deco on it since it should be pretty close to the size of the G1 toy and it having a clear windshield really helps but the rest of the alt mode just doesn't look great at all.

If they are all a different height they all have a different use.

I really like this Prowl. I would love it if they did a toy-accurate Smokescreen rather than the cartoon accurate style that New Age and Magic Square seem to be going for.

Yeah the car hood does look a bit doofy with the hood being so tall. Otherwise it's a good looking figure. I will probably skip this figure due to being bigger than I'm into but maybe if I can find one cheap sometime since it is Prowl and all.

my issue with this new Prowl (don't we all have issues with something?) are those headlight wells. the Newage, and MST ones, and I believe the real 2G Fairlady Zed, have a conical shape which tapers off to a point towards the bonnet. the headlight wells on the Iron Trans one is just rounded, which to me, gives it a derpy / droopy look

Those headlight wells and the tall windshield are really what’s wrong with the alt mode here. The bot mode is missing his shoulder wheels and of course the chest headlight well issue. If they do a smokescreen repaint/remold I’ll consider it but as for right now, easy pass for me.
