I assume it doesn’t apply to international shipping.

It doesn't. If it did, it would be the best bargain out there

Twice today I caught Reflector back down to $19.99 only to get an empty cart message after or an error message in the app.

Same here. It absolutely will not add the items to my cart, super weird.

I'm aware, as I also have theorized in a previous post that Amazon.jp might all together be tired of losing money on shipping internationally these large items at a fraction of the cost. Even my MP+ Wheeljack only cost me $12 to ship, but the DHL service they used to get it to me in only two days actually cost $60. And that's just for a little box with an MP car in it, I can't imagine what the actual shipping cost for MP-44 will be.

But that's all just speculation. There hasn't actually been any word from Amazon if it's temporary or that's just how it's going to be going forward, which is what people want to know, and right now I'd say no one actually knows.

Amazon Prime accounts for Amazon.com do not work with Amazon.jp sadly.

I know. I meant signing up for Prime member for Amazon Japan, but yeah, would be cool if all the account were linked (though if they were, I doubt they'd ship to the US).

Although the retail shipping rate is $60, I'm betting that Amazon pays much closer to $12, considering they are the highest volume shipper on the planet, and have hefty discounts and contracts with all carriers.
Yet, it's still a loss when you consider packing materials, warehousing costs, and payroll expenses.. there's no doubt that Amazon is losing out on many of these sales.

So happy for you! And jealous.

It's been so hard to lock down those figures on Amazon this past week, I've basically decided to wait until after Comic-Con, anticipating that there MIGHT be a three pack that could be appealing, and I suspect would be debuted at the show. My guess is I'll still want to get three of the single release, in case there are deco differences, but given that there might be another option on the horizon, I'm not interested in working this hard to get him.

Online buying is beginning to feel like the B&M hunt. Who'd have thunk it?

Yes, and Amazon usually has those discounts in the U.S. where they have more nationwide distribution centers and reduce shipping costs by transporting entire pallets to those carriers for delivery themselves. But they don't appear to have that same network for international sales, which means Amazon.jp aren't seeing anywhere near the same discounts. The boxes also come with the shipping cost printed on the DHL package, which usually even with business accounts is what the company actually paid to ship the item.

And even if they are able to pay only around $12 to ship the item based on volume, it really makes no sense why they would pass that discount to the customer, especially when international customers aren't paying for a Prime account to help cover the costs (and like you said, they still have overhead to cover).

Welcome to the future. Amazon really is your B&M now.

Brunt, Spectro & Spyglass have arrived. They must wait another day for Viewfinder.

Of my three orders from Monday (1 Brunt/2 Reflector/1 Reflector)....none have arrived when they said they would, either early or late. Still 1000% better than a B&H hunt.

Got an order in for a Reflector at MSRP but it would only let me order 1.

It let me order 3 but it isn't scheduled to deliver until November 6th. :/

And yes, I know it will probably deliver much sooner. I just thought the delivery target was funny.

I would recommend double-checking the retailer. Make sure it's actually sold by Amazon and not a 3rd party. The 3rd parties may actually wait until then to get your stuff to you.

As I say, I've had things preorder out for long periods before and the date always gets moved up steadily as stock is located, but this is the first time I've had something currently shipping pushed out five months. That said I also have a cancelable preorder in with another retailer. We'll see who ships first...

I was able to order two more Reflectors sold by Amazon for $19.99 just now. I ordered them through "Buy it again" on my orders page (I ordered one a few days ago). In stock on the 22nd, but it says arriving Saturday.

They're live on the regular item page too. Link again for anyone who needs it.

Dude seeing Brunt & Reflector fluctuate between retail price at 19.99 in stock to 19.99 preorder and then to ridiculous scalping prices pisses me off. Either put them up for preorder or don't put them up at all if you can't meet demand. Going to wait on my BBTS preorders, Amazon has lost me on this one.
