263 made this movie ROTTEN. 13,943 don't count towards the fresh vs rotten score. What if we reversed that? Then this movie would FRESH AS FUCK!

Wow Godzilla 2014 has a freshness score of 75% and KotM has a freshness score of 40%. I feel like those scores are backwards. I won't even spend $5 for the 2014 blu-ray just to add it with my Godzilla movie collection but I would certainly consider buying the UHD blu-ray for KotM.

Funny, I really enjoyed KOTM and Hated 2014 Godzilla. I think this movie was one of my fav's this year over Endgame and pretty much anything else I seen.

My thoughts in a nutshell. For those unaware, this is the director's tweet I found this on Reddit.

Dougherty is a hack. Not taking feedback and being stuck in oneself is and not even considering criticism is just the thing to keep you from growing as an artist and improving. Having a tough skin is of course requisite but arrogantly allowing yourself to fall behind your fandom of the property you found your work in is too extreme.

Like, if I were to make a Transformers movie and people started saying that for example there was too much 80s music? Should I somehow not listen to my audience because I like Transformers and metal, or should I actually listen to the people I am distributing it to? It would be jerkish to make a sequel and pack as much as Guns 'n' Roses as I see fit again.

If you ever felt like Ghidorah could be a Kevin even once in your lifetime, this is what you've been waiting for.

Plus nobody’s mad at this movie. What of the silent majority who were kind of bored but would never think to go on Rotten Tomatoes. Of course the fans would be the only ones rating it

That made me laugh, when the Bumblebee movie came out set in the 80s & has all this 80s music, but the bulk of it was not metal or hard rock. Like, this is what the rest of the 80s sounded like! It’s definitely not the soundtrack I expected.

It's weird. I thought the movie was stupid as F***... yet I feel the need to see it again.

I am suitably confused. Perhaps I missed those classics, but... when did Toho make a giant spider or a giant mammoth thingy? Also, I suppose it's just a re-use of CGI to cover costs, but why the heck was MUTOH back?

And where was Anguirus? I mean, I assume it was in here somewhere, probably being that moving mountain thing. Am I right in saying that the spider was what came out of the ground by the oil wells? Was that a reference to the cheesy Tarantula movie?

I have no idea, but I loved what I saw and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next movie.

Also, I think the reason why we didn't get more movies before this one is because WB and Legendary were working on Pacific Rim franchise stuff as well.

Looks like they can either revive the original or make Mecha King Ghidora thanks to the severed head those eco terrorists went after

Scylla (the spider squid) and Behemoth (the mammoth ground sloth) are new. Legendary only has the rights to some monsters (Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah), so they had to fill the gaps with new ones. As for the MUTO, they are a species and there are more than just two.

And no, Anguirus wasn't in this at all. They don't have the rights. The moving mountain is called Methuselah.

There was a giant spider in Son of Godzilla named Kumonga. He later appeared in Final Wars.

For people who are more knowledgeable about Godzilla lore, are creatures like Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan supposed to be survivors of an extinct species, or some sort of anomalies?

Godzilla in the Monsterverse is seemingly the lone survivor of his species, who were preyed upon by the MUTOs. Otherwise, most of the various Godzillas are mutated dinosaurs that somehow survived to the modern day. Shin Godzilla is some kind of rapidly evolving sea-monster and Godzilla Earth is a plant.

Mothra and Rodan I think are in the same boat as Godzilla in the Monsterverse--lone survivors.

See? This guy said the same thing as me, Ghidorah was kicking Godzilla's ass in the beginning. Without the help of Mothra & the nuke, Godzilla would have lost. Ghidorah was more powerful. Imagine how powerful Destroyah would be.

If that’s how you guys interpret then that’s the case. But when I asked my kids their take, they said in the first fight Ghidorah flew away or retreated, while in the 2nd fight, Ghidorah was getting owed.

That’s why to us when one of the soldiers mentioned (along the lines) that they killed their best shot of ending Ghidorah - with the use of the oxygen destroyer, the words had impact to us.
