So look what arrived in the mail today. I need to get out my Carnifex and see how the shoe fits before I make a final judgement call...but so far...I'm a little impressed. It is a far larger piece than I thought it would be. And it is really, really heavy. I have mixed feelings about buying something from Maas at this time, but I had been excited to get this for my display for a while now and I at least wanted to take a look at it in person.

 

...is that, like, an epitaph underneath?..

 

So the last thing MAAS produced was their own headstone then?? Bold

 

Annnnnnd it turns out I am not a fan after all.

Got out my Carnifex, and the Maas accessory is comically oversized for the figure it it meant to pair with. The kicker for me is that the footprint doesn’t even really fit Carnifex. Carny’s foot is just swimming in this giant oversized indent. I was over paying for this Maas piece because it was going to add some IDW flair to my display. Instead, it just looks silly.



In retrospect, it is on me for not seeing the writing on the wall. Spence has repeatedly made it clear that he doesn’t care too much about scale. Oh well, $25 out the window. What can you do?

 

They couldn't even do that one thing right, huh?

Seriously, what were they thinking with this guy? We're a fledgling company, we need a hit to secure future business. I know! A minor character from a niche comic series, in a scale so oversized it doesn't work with anything else! Genius!

 

Is it just made out of plaster and then painted?
