Whenever I look at my Studio Series Constructicons, I can't help but wish they had a little bit of the "weathering paint" on them; like the G1 figures have.

They are amazing, but they are very pristine looking. I want my vroooom vroooom trucks being dirty!

 

Quick question. Why are there preorders for all of these except Longhaul?

 

Why don't they make actual triple changers again?

 

Drift is really well done but I don\'t need another Drift in the collection. 

Long Haul and Hightower look cool, I like Hightower\'s unconventional \"robot\" mode.

Dropkick looks awesome, I hope it\'s not a massive floppy shitstorm with parts that won\'t stay together like Shatter sadly was.

 

My guess is it's a mix of strict licensing deals and the designs are just too cumbersome. Drift, Shatter, and Dropkick all transform into perfect recreations of their individual modes rather than the made-up and amalgamous vehicles of G1's triple changers. Astrotrain had the massive booster at the back of his locomotive, Blitzwing had the tank turret beneath his jet, Springer was.. Springer, Broadside suffered in all modes, those are corners cut that these designs don't allow. Sadly.


Size may also be an issue. Deluxes are a lot more limiting than voyagers

 

or at least Hightower's forearm mode

 

And here I thought I couldn\'t get any more hype for the next two Devy limbs.

 

I still can’t believe Hightower exists. I love him. I hope his head has good articulation cause that’s really the only part of him that looks like it can move a lot haha

I already have long haul on the way and I’m totally getting helicopter drift after initially not being interested. He looks too damn good. Dropkick looks like a very standard carbot with nothing too special about him but since I like the character from the movie I’ll get him too.

 

Given that Long Haul has to combine with other figures, I am rather surprised with how much articulation he seems to have. The presence of ankle tilts alone is awesome and kind of unexpected.

Long Haul looking great. Fingers crossed that Black Mamba or Weijiang are on top of it for getting enhanced versions rolled out.

 

Drift is looking really good! Considering how bad Dropkick is (lanky, awkward, etc.) I was really worried that the early images weren't showing his flaws- but between this and the 360 view on Walmart it's looking like they managed to overcome that with him. Makes me happy. This also may be the first drift toy I don't feel like I need to add more paint to.

 

Every time I see Hightower, I'm reminded of some CGI Disney movie with a T-Rex that talks. He screams, "I have a big head and tiny arms."

 

Meet the Robinsons

 

I don't think hightower actually has a specific combined mode. I think he's just going to stay in vehicle mode. The elbow joint just hangs off the back of the alt mode, so nothing to change to get access to it.

What i think is gonna happen is that on Hightower, this block thing under the crane arm in the center will just flip around to reveal the port for Scrapmetal's post. Maybe the crane itself shifts back, but aside from that, nothing fancy for combined mode i don't think.

 

Hightower is just the fucking greatest. I loved his Legends toy from all the way back when and this new one is going right inside my mouth.

 

I'm currently still on the hunt for Scrapmetal in my local area, but man these constructicons are really growing on me.

I was planning on buying them for the big Dev, of course, but the more i see each individual bot and all their weird quirks, I'm really enjoying them. heck even the strange and gaunt design of Hightower is starting to get interesting to me. Im more excited to have the whole gang together in bot modes at this point. The monstery designs are just all so neat.

 

I really like that idea. Maybe using brown for rustiness or mud.
