Thanks to Duvan Rodriguez for sharing pics of one of the nicest surprises at Comic-Con Colombia. The Transformers X Ghostbusters MP-10 and Masterpiece MPM-08 Megatron were on display at the event.

Comic-Con Colombia is being held from May 31st to June 3rd in Corferias, Colombia. Assistants and Transformers fans were surprised to see both MP-1GB Optimus Prime Ecto 35 Edition and Masterpieve Movie Megatron on the show. The display was sponsored by Hasbro Colombia and Pepe Ganga stores. This opens the possibility for these figures to be offered at Colombian retail, and maybe in other South American markets with a bit of luck.

 

Why am I tempted by that Optimus, why?

Remove the front license plate and swap the Ghostbusters Logo for the Avengers "A" and Prime would be ready to traveling to the Quantum Realm.

Good god, Megatron is so horribly mistransformed.

 

I love Ghost Trap Roller so much.

I know we can always just use these guys (this plus Ectotron) with the old MP or Henkei Ghost Starscreams, but I kinda wish they’d release a new Ghost Starscream to specifically go with them. Would nicely round out a trio of releases.

 

Because two nostalgic '80s franchises are coming together in a weird but awesome fashion.

Yeah, I put in an order for Ectotron after this was announced.

... Stupid cross marketing promotional pieces I wouldn't want if one of them weren't MP10.

 

As an anti-Optimus, I'm not as tempted as some of you. Especially when a Ratchet makes more sense (to me) in this role. Or WHEELJACK, for that matter.

Optimus is getting milked to death. I imagine the average display has at least 3-4 MP Optimus variants by now. And if not, wait a couple of months.

 

I had the same idea as soon as the crossover was announced, to me a Ghostbuster version of Wheeljack was the obvious choice, i still like the Prime but it's still too bad that they went with him.

 

Beyond the bad choice, there's also this issue of relying on Optimus too much. The choice tells me that Takara/Hasbro is afraid to take risks.

In other words, this MP Optimus is likely the safety net for producing Ectotron. Such a risk-averse approach to business is alarming - think about all the BB-overload conversations we've had on these boards!

But Optimus is NOT BB. So it's okay to keep using this mold for every crossover EVER. Kudos to the fans who don't get tired of this convention. I kind of admire the pride they have for their Optimus collections.

But it's okay to try a different ice cream flavor ONCE in a while!  

I like the crossover, but the Optimus choice confuses me.   I think I'm more interested in a Sneaker-crossover Optimus.

For some reason I couldn't get myself to buy the Ecto-1, but I think this thing is great even without being a full on MP-10 completionist. Trap Roller is fantastic. Transformer who is a Ghostbuster, awesome. Ghostbuster vehicle who is now a Transformer, meh (still don't know why for me). Now if they give me a delorean, gamechanger.

 

That Prime looks really cool although pretty expensive. I like that it is not just repaint with stickers. I love the roller and the proton pack. Really nice.
