Accurate Horizontal Grimlock. Dinosaurs are always changing. Let the 80s vertical Grimlock stay in the past of inaccuracy.

You can keep Brontosaurus because it’s a separate species from Apatosaurus now. Been that way since 2015.

A V isn't two vertical lines though... They're diagonal. H has two vertical lines and one horizontal line.

Horizontal but only because I’m a ridiculous science nerd who gets triggered by things being scientifically inaccurate;)

They're diagonal but at an angle greater than 45 degrees with the plane, though not perpendicular with it, so I think of it as being more vertical than horizontal. If a line was angled less than 45 degrees with the plane I would consider it more horizontal than vertical.
I realize the H has two vertical lines, but the fact that V has zero horizontal lines helps me remember the H is horizontal because of its horizontal line. If instead of "vertical" it was spelled "Artical", then the horizontal line in the H wouldn't help me because A also has a horizontal line. In fact, in that case the H's two vertical lines would be even more vertical since they're perpendicular as opposed to the diagonal vertical lines of the A and I wouldn't be able to remember it that way at all.

Anything other than vertical isn't Grimlock to me.

Vertical was cool back in the day, but I like the new horizontal representations like the Fall of Cybertron Grimlock even more.

Vertical is great when he's being the comic relief goofball, but horizontal is more dynamic. He's still vertical in robot mode when it counts.

Here's an idea... why not both?

I kinda imagine him standing vertical when in a relaxed state on the Autobot base and only taking the horizontal position when actually in combat.

Though it has always kinda bothered me how reliant Grimlock and the other Dinobots are on their beast modes. They rarely ever transform to robot mode. The beast modes might have some advantages in certain situations but they are TRANSFORMERS... so why don't we get to see them in robot mode more often.

I think that's another reason why Cyberverse Grimlock is so good due to the fact that while the Beast Mode seems to be more physically powerful, his robot mode is more of a strategic fighter. I like intelligent robot Grimlock being slightly weaker but also attacking with purpose rather than randomly lashing out in every direction.

Cyberverse is a GREAT compromise between Furman's 'Grimlock The Thoughtful Barbarian' and the more nostalgic 'Me Grimlock Grimlock'

Yes, Sludge transforms into the fictional Dinosaur, the Brontosaurus. And Grimlock drags his tail because he chooses too, even if the real Tyrannosaurus Rex did not. The Dinobots don’t have to be completely accurate to the dinosaurs they are based upon.

Checking Google, only G1 Grimlock is posed vertically, other Grimlocks are posed horizontally. That’s fine by me.

Who poses their Titans Return Trypticon horizontally?

I think both. Rattrap and Primal would stand upright often personifying their beast modes and this could work for Grimlock too whilst also serving up some nostalgia for his 80's dino theory G1 self.

    Brontosaurus isn't fictional.

Brontosaurus was the name given to a large species of nearly complete sauropod discovered in 1879. In 1903, it was argued that it was close enough to Apatosaurus to fall under that banner. Then, in 2015, it was argued that it was different enough to be split, but also that two other dinosaurs (Eobrontosaurus and Elosaurus) were close enough they fell under Brontosaurus as additional species. So now there are two Apatosaurus and three Brontosaurus, whereas before 2015 there were three Apatosaurusus, Eobrontosaurus, and Elosaurus

Anywho, y'know what was a horizontal T. rex? The rex in Jurassic Park. Ergo, that is the best way for Grimlock to be, and any Grimlock that is not is inferior

G1 Grimlock scrapes his tail against the ground like a peasant. It is unsightly for a king to do so.

I'm in favor of accurate beast modes, so horizontal it is. Leave the vertical Grimlocks in the past with pistol Megatrons and cabover Optimuses.

So you're saying one of the other dinobots or a minicon needs to hold his tail up like the attendant of a robe's train. Agreed.

Um... both rats and apes actually are able to stand upright. Though rats don't actually have apposable thumbs like Rattrap seems to and can only stand like that for short periods of time unless they have support. Apes being more closely similar to humans can just naturally stand upright. They're a little more hunched than Primal as they can't stand perfectly straight... again except for short periods. And you probably don't want to be near an ape when it is perfectly straight up either cause they tend to only do this when they're being aggressive.

So really the only thing fictional about their standing straight up is being relaxed while doing so and how long they're able to hold that position. Primal also seems a little backwards considering he's shown in an aggressive stance when relaxed and a relaxed stance when in combat.

That is not a mental image I ever needed or wanted.

    Back OT:
Depends: Would he have trouble tipping over if he were horizontal? Perhaps they do it for other reasons as well.
