Another thrift store find, Energon Windrazor: IMG_20190522_154810240.jpg IMG_20190522_154820096.jpg IMG_20190522_154918818.jpg IMG_20190522_154943950.jpg

No weapons though, so no combining.

I've heard that Energon was a pretty terrible toyline, and the bigger toys LOOK pretty terrible, but all the basic class ones I've handled are pretty neat. IMG_20190522_155249428.jpg

It's a neat idea but I doubt Hasbro would do it unless they could reuse the CW molds, which would make them look wrong.

Oh, I know they won't. But it'd make sense for them to reuse molds with the Energon guys, that's why they exist haha

The bad reputation is from the deluxes and voyager autobots, which sacrifices a lot for the combination gimmick. Rest of the line is cool and quite on par with tody's standards.

Personally I don't hate the deluxe autobots. Ok they don't shine as display pieces on shelves, but as toys, they're cool with ton of play value.

I was cleaning up my collection earlier today and decided to remove the batteries from my collection.

Of the guys I had with battery compartments only Armada Unicron, Energon Scorponok, Dark Scorponok, and Dark Crumplezone had them. It seemed my memories played tricks on me and Vector Prime, Energon Galvatron, Shockblast, and Menasor never came with any?

But in any case I pulled out Tidal Wave from his hiding place and transformed him. He's as tall as a CW combiner, which surprised me. Even though he's as poseable as a brick, he's still the imposing lug I remember from years ago (and the recent TR version disappointed me for in his memory).

Only a couple things annoying me right now: missing half of a prong from one of the Air Military Team blackbird (it's almost certainly at the bottom of the box it came from, but I just repacked it and I don't want to unpack it again right now) and can't figure out what I did with the Skyboom Shield (on the other hand, I may not have owned it in the first place! Duh duh dumm!!).

Still no Titan class here, they're definitely too big to me, and a bit deceiving (expecialyl the autobot ones) so I'm still with the old UT guys :

GF Prime (not the Cyb one) as center of the collection :

Even Brick Armada Prime is here, even if a bit hidden :

I still have my UT stuff on display. I've even been looking at some UT figures on eBay lately. I might grab an Armada Blurr with Incinerator that's going for $15.

    I'm also re-watching Cybertron on Tubi.tv.

Up until January, I had ALL my UT stuff on display.

Once the house-renovations are all done, I may sacrifice my UT stuff to space, but I'm keeping a hold of any figure with a Minicon.

Armada Unicron never left and he's never leaving.

Neither is Dark Scorponok, but for an entirely different reason.

Anyone have photos of Energon Deluxes combined with themselves/their repaints?

I had my Botcon Scorponok and Double Punch as part of my Neo-Classics Display. Will likely go back in when I set things up again.

    These are the worst combinations.

And the worst of the list :

    WP_20190602_15_26_08_Rich.jpg

On my opinon, hre's the best combinations :

Works well in Black/red version too :

Not related, but I love Deluxe Optimus. The only one who shines even if not combined, it's a good transformer by itself.

    WP_20190602_15_27_41_Rich.jpg

And if you have the opportinity to get the exclusive Fire Red verison, do not hesitate, he's awesome :

Edit : I realize I forgot pics of Inferno/roadblock. But believe me, you miss nothing.

I don't have much of my Unicron Trilogy collection left, but it does amaze me how far that we've come since then.

One thing hasn't changed - the combiners still look and work better, IMHO, with third party hands and feet.

The one figure I have from Energon is the one that has lasted the longest in my collection (though not unscathed, as the sharpie may tell. I'm working to remove it here soon), and probably the reason I love Bruticus as a whole so much. Sadly, curious hands and a spare screwdriver robbed him of ratcheting hips and waist swiveling, but otherwise he's functional.

I didn't know back in UT period that Superlink hotshot had a different head than Energon's one.
Since I discovered it (very recently) I was hunting for one.
