That is indeed Maketoys Despotron. Mine has been a little customized with some extra paint apps on the shins the feet and faces, and I sanded off the extra tech details on the helmet and repainted it. The hands have also been replaced with some of the MP10 style articulated hands.

Yeah style wise those two look great together.

For my personal preference I actually prefer my custom Despotron over MP36 the same way I like MS-01 over MP44. I just like the more brutish proportions of Despotron over MP36 the same is true with MS-01, but that is just me. Everyone has their own preference and that is mine.

That was exactly why i chose MS-01 first over TE, I just like the chunky beefier proportions of the 2 main TF Leaders to reflect on their might and strength, plus Despotron looks more modern in design and the closest to the Prime Wars Trilogy Megatron. Does anyone know if Despotron rival MP-36 in terms of articulation and build quality? Just can't really see myself pairing my MS-01 with an MP-36 mould regardless if its the original or KO.

Despotron rivals MP-36 in articulation in my experience. Build quality is good but not quite the same to me- mostly the more brittle feeling plastics and hinges on parts make Despotron feel fragile I guess. The sagging knee thing is a concern on Despotron too but not a huge one IMHO.

Haha thanks! Here's the full "recipe" for anyone interested (all Tamiya spray paints):

    Main blue: TS-15 Blue
    Yellow accents: TS-34 Camel Yellow
    Face: TS-17 Gloss Aluminum
    Eyes: TS-23 Light Blue
Leg vents, "toes", and head crest: TS-30 Silver Leaf

I only used primer (fine surface primer L) on parts that weren't already painted, and I sealed it all with TS-79 Semi Gloss Clear.

I have both versions of MS's Prime. I really like the flat look of the original release but bought the 2nd one because I thought it would fit with the rest of my collection better. I now have the first version on display at work. If they were to do another release of this figure I would like to see them use some die cast and put the yellow back in the forearms. Regardless I absolutely love this figure and he will be my Prime for quite some time. I have no interest in mp44.

Can someone take a pic of this from the side and show just how far the torso tilts when the ab crunch joint is used? Only seen it from angles in pics/videos.

Saw on some Facebook post. Does he have a trailer coming? It looks like it’s just a set, trailer not sold separately, but I could be wrong.

That looks amazing I was just thinking about painting his pants white but now I want to get the blue too.

Dumb question (still new to painting etc) did you use the gloss On separate parts or the figure as a whole, cheers

Imho it's not necessarily about toon accuracy, it's a detail that should be painted on a masterpiece grade figure.

Is the silver on the X version close to the MP-10 silver? or is it an off color?

That's their legends scale Optimus Prime figure and not the masterpiece version.

Thanks! and if you mean the clear coat, I only did that to parts that I painted (while still disassembled), so all of the red on the figure and the silver "pants" are completely stock (used the X version).
