Eh, I'm not feeling this one. Your engineering is always impressive, but lowering the legs like that makes the dino mode look really odd.
If making the figure bigger is necessary, I'd think new lower legs (not boots) being made longer would look more natural.

That would take a huge level of engineering that would either be too expensive for a small studio/designer to do and sell, or likely not worth it for a bigger 3rd party company to design/create whole new molds for. This isn't perfect, but it's the best quick fix option available (and really the only one in existence). It works for me, so at the very least my display is set in terms of displaying these guys together. =)

    Someone's ripped your designs off?

Also: mixed feelings on this. Love the new height but i have misgivings on the lost bulk. I'd want to find some spare bot parts to lengthen and bulk up his arms because the changed silhouette really makes his arms smaller than they already are.

I think a lot of stuff folks are iffy about is because he's standing STRAIGHT up in these pics since I wanted to show his overall height increase in comparison to metroplex. His bulk and everything else still shows up when he's slightly hunched over in a more realistic T-Rex pose, which I think is the more default display stance most people (myself included) would tend to have him in.

Can we see this transformed perhaps? I’m totally interested.

These parts are actually only intended for dino mode, since that's where the height deficiency is the most obvious (when compared to metroplex). They are detached and not used for base and spaceship mode.

Best quick fix in your opinion you mean, because it seems like I'm not the only one who feels like the bad outweighs the good in this case. Props for the effort, but I have seen larger foot add-ons that hurt the look a bit to get extra height. I think even if not standing straight up, this just makes his body look way too long. I know we all have different opinions on what looks okay and different levels of desperation for a taller Trypticon though.

Considering these city bots are FAR from in scale with any toy line (understandably) and Hasbro Metroplex has an awful city mode, my solution was to buy Maketoys Utopia. It scales with Hasbro Trypticon really well and its just plain a much cooler figure in both modes in my opinion. No Trypticon parts-forming or odd proportions necessary then. Utopia is a bit pricey though and I know some people have a huge mental blocker on anything not "official".

Just a thought? What if you made boots for trypticon? Something that added like an inch on to his height, and made his Dino feet more wide

Funny enough... we DID come up with a concept for "riser feet" for Trypticon, had a whole design in mind and everything. But we've seen it done already, and all we'd be doing is copying an existing idea. We're more into trying to bring something new and different into the equation, so rather than re-shell some Trypticon shoes (which we already know would work), we decided to explore other possibilities. We get that doing things that way makes us a target for criticism, but we can only do things according to what we're into and what WE like or are okay with. We still enjoy sharing our WIPs and ideas with the community for now.

I like how the part slots into the existing ports on the hip assembly. I think it might look more natural if it had a round housing that extended the top of the leg into the body.

This is honestly where we're going with it after we tested the basic design concept and test fit. =)

I disagree completely. Trypticon was more of a "Godzilla" bot as opposed to Dinosaur incarnation like the Dinobots, that is why he was a "city-former". This addition makes his proportions more in line with a kaiju. I'm digging it. I also agree with Tom_Servo and I'm glad to hear that is the direction you are going.

BTW...where are my Seige Swidewipe thighs?!?! ;)

i just love how you are randomly obsessed with making every bot taller. no matter if it looks good or not.

but maybe focus a cool mod for tryp instead of his height. like design and give him a wrist swivel.

or better yet take your skills and use them to improve the neck for MMC Skylynx. pull that one off and you will raking in the money. that mod alone would get your startup company where you envision it i am sure.

You know, looking at it again with this in mind, it doesn't lose as much mass as I initially felt it did while being far more imposing with the height increase, especially when you put him next to Metroplex, which is how I'd display and play with him with.

That is exactly what I got out of my first view. It gets the height to match Metroplex without making him look like he is wearing platform shoes out to the disco :)
