fyi for those (still) interested in getting this newly-released Arcadia 1/60-PF VE-1 valk. just saw amz-jp listing it for around 24k-yen shipped to the US in two-to-three days: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B07MZ68RY9/ dunno how long it'll last there.
This is for the upcoming DX 1/48 Vf-1s Hikaru pre-order and no stand. The one with the stand is the DX VF-1J and will cost you over 35k+ yen (or $320+ USD) on the secondary market.
Yeah, I missed out on that one , I've been waiting for this one for a while, hopefully it's a lot easier to pick up.
I also noticed HLJ has both the regular and PF versions of Max and Milia's 1Js in stock again. I'm not buying these I'm not buying these I'm not buying these
They usually do not go up right at 4pm jst at AJ. The 1J was around an hour later and the 1A went up about 2-3 hours later if I remember correctly. For the record, it should still come with a stand. The difference is, the 1J came with an additional “limited edition stand”
Yeah the 1A went up at like 2:35 AM PT / 5:35 AM ET on AJ. I had just gone to bed because I landed one on NY. (They went up at like 2:05 AM PT / 5:05 AM ET.)
Do the Japanese sites let you cancel pre-orders? I remember one of them not letting you. I guess in worst case scenario, you could just sell it when it arrives.
This is good news; bad news for my wallet but good news all the same. Jungle was my go-to for filling in collection gaps and avoiding scalper prices. I'm very glad to see them on-line again. I wonder how extensive their data breach was?
I sold my DX 1J to someone here on the boards, but I'm tempted by a 1S...just not this 1S. That said, I feel like Roy is going to be even tougher to get once his PO comes around. I like Macross, but the frothing around the Bandai releases and the hoops one jumps through for a PO is a pain in the ass.
It is hard to deny (not sure why one would want to) the greatness of the Arcadia 1/60. Love mine too! Hikaru version though. The others are still boxed up.
I did get a PF 1/60 of the DYRL VF-1S but I honestly think it feels a bit flimsy for me. The 1/100 is small enough to not have that problem and the 1/48 is big enough. And nothing really gets better than the play-ability and pose-ability combo of the 1/55. I feel like the 1/48 is sturdy enough but too many steps to really play much.
Just hard to keep him standing in Battroid for me. I feel like I need to pose him and then gently and cautiously walk away backwards. HA
I felt that way about the Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1 at first(this was after having been used to the Yamato 1/48 from 5 years prior) but after handling it more and getting used to it, it grew on me and I ended up liking it more than the Yamato 1/48. I did prefer the easier transformation/lack of priest collar of the Yamato 1/48 but balance and everything else on the V2 1/60 VF-1. I like the Bandai DX 1/48 more than the previously mentioned Yamato valks but I feel that Bandai went with the Apple approach of refining innovations another company(Yamato/Arcadia) came up with, with just a few innovations of their own(sideways thigh pivot from their 1/72 model, ability to have the head flush with the bottom of the fuselage in Fighter mode to the point that the visor is completely hidden and sliding arm rails from their VF HI METAL/HI METAL R VF-1 toy)
If that is the first or only 1/60v2 you have, then it'll be a little different from your experience with both the old 1/55 and 1/48-DX from Bandai. Especially, the weight. You will need to adjust your approach in standing or posing it from what you're used to with the 1/55.
There may be an easier way.... If Bandai makes both the TV VF-1S Roy and DYRL? VF-1S Roy mass market(neither TamashiiWeb exclusives). The mold differences would be cockpit consoles(DYRL? version lacks a HUD and has a different console) and pilot figures while the rest is cosmetic(yellow head arrow for DYRL?, black head arrow for TV). Bandai made both TV and movie versions of Messer's DX VF-31F mass marker and the movie version ended up being easier to get(and it was basically the same save for having Hayate and Messer pilot figures and the clips for the lil Drakens). There's incentive for both mother Fockers since the movie FAST packs are coming out and TV Roy is in demand.
