So I feel he is coming along well, and will fit nicely in with the Iron Factory style once I add the surface details. As I said in the main post, he proportions need a tweak or two but he is getting there
I use solidworks as it's what I could get for free from my university, but I don't know if I'd recommend it to other
SolidWorks is a very good CAD program. Some techniques can be tricky to learn, but otherwise it’s super versatile. I used it to make a 3D model of Optimus Prime over on the art subforum.
In some ways ists great, but the more complex and organic the design the harder it is to pull off with solidworks tools. But the assembly feature is a godsend and the numerical nature is great for tolerances. All the programmes gave tradeoffs I guess. That said, I went with iron factory style as it complements solidworks tools
Absolutely. For designing parts for my projects over the course of my degree is was a brilliant asset, but its not quite as versatile for the fine details and tweaks of a complex dsign such as a transformers because that's not what it's designed for
I found your figure! A friend designed his own transformer and I'm about half way through the prints for him. : ender3
Yeah that's the one, I have been out of the country for 2 months, so he printed it for me for when I got back. Sadly, a design oversights on my end means he won't go together and I'm having to reprint about half of it, but assembled prototype soon!
After like 5 months of hiatus, lugnut should be finished in the next week or two. Here are some photos of the transforming V1 prototype I just complete. Really happy with how he is coming along
Just curious, what are your plans for distribution, if you're considering it? Edit: I don't mean to speak for everyone, but I think we all want a copy.
