I just may cling to a notion that this could dethrone Pacific Rim as my favourite.

well, I hadn't considered that, but bad comedy can certainly ruin it. Ask me about Bayformers. I'm sure I'd tolerate those a lot better if they'd left out some of the awful jokes.

The 2014 movie was more straightforward sci-fi stuff that mainstream audiences are used to. Mothra and Ghidorah are a bit more eccentric. Not sure how the mainstream will react to those elements.

Uprising deserved the bad reviews. I was thinking more along the lines of something like Rampage would be my threshold. Not the highest bar to set.

 

WTF!!!!!!!! Where is the score!!!!!!

 

Some the reactions I read mention the jokes one is about the Muto's mating from the last movie, another is about Ghidorah's name sounding like gonorrhea.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters Review - IGN

 

Well consider me nervous. I wanted this to be more then a visual spectacle. :/

 

Plenty of movies have low critic scores and high audience scores. Critics nowadays are out of touch with what the general populace wants to watch. IGN gave the movie a 7.8 out of 10. At the end of the day people should watch movies they want to not based on what someone else thinks who had never met you.

 

Slowly climbing up it seems. Currently 54% as of this posting.

Not encouraging that people are falling back on "They said the same thing about Venom!" Venom was garbage with one strong concept tying it together.

I will say though, most of our favorite Japanese Godzilla movies wouldn't fair much better among American critics. Three-Headed Monster is objectively bad, but it's still #3 on my list. 2014 doesn't deserve that kind of sequel though.

 

It's only been like, an hour and only 28 reviews have been posted over the hundreds that will come later. Be patient, wait for the box office, and wait for more of the GA to have also seen the movie.

 

Man, now AMC posts a Dolby time. I already used the coupon to save 10 dollars at Cinemark. It's basically gonna cost 25 more dollars to book at AMC now.

 

I don't believe the Rottentomatoes reviews are real. Everybody is saying that the monsters get a ton of screen time. But if you read the RT reviews they say the opposite:

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is now the worst American Godzilla movie. Say what you will about Roland Emmerich's, but at least he showed Godzilla a lot.

The net effect is more numbing than stirring, with only a few monster-on-monster tussles that come close to being worth the price of admission.

WTF? Seriously? Everybody really needs to STOP using Rottentomatoes. Just fuckin STOP! Drop that site & let it fade off as a distant memory.

 

Seems that some wanted more substance with this movies style. Which for them it didn’t quite provide.

It stars some humans but it really doesn't matter, I'll talk about that later. lol (Same with the Transformers movies)
