Thanks for the feedback... that's actually the first I've heard of the baton thing so appreciate that but I see so many pics holding it that I wonder if there's a trick? Also got the War Machine mk I ordered and IV on p.o.. The digital camoon the IV is fantastic but the III is that perfect middle between the I and II prior to the IV and up getting extremely "futuristic" in aesthetic.) These will be my three though until the suit used in the final battle is anounced and even then I'm holding out on Patriot colors to see if the promo version is anounced.
Similar to quite a few Transformers with articulated hands, the problems with the baton are that finger sections aren't quite long enough to fully wrap around it and the knuckle joints aren't really stiff enough for the weight, so although you can get it into a sustained grip, it's very easy to dislodge; I was rearranging my display over the last couple of weeks and the baton on my Mk III which had been steady for ages was dropped after a slight nudge. The figure can be moved around while gripping the baton, but over-tilting it during positioning will cause the baton to lose its balance point.
Mark 50/L is the newest one due out soon. Older suits are good, but diecast ones are the best to go with. Sideshow has a preorder for MK 43 from Age of Ultron coming as well. Tut only issue is there will likely be a bit of a late tax on any released diecast suits
I have it in hand now. Like @Autoclot said can definitely grip but doesn't have that Kung Fu Grip feel at all. Would've been nice if it came with those types of hands specifically but it's certainly not bad. This piece is absolutely amazing. The weightiness is something else even compared to the diecast iron men and has all of the neat engineering like an extending waist for even further ab crunch than those and the drop-down hips. I love it. I... LOVE... IT. (consolidated quick snaps to one post.)
Went ahead and decided to bite the bullet with the Mark L; I got a discount coupon with my cart so that helped some. I'll be curious to get him in hand and see how I like him, as I've heard actually being able to handle one versus just looking makes all the difference. (And I figure if he doesn't impress me, he should be easy enough to sell, which helps.)
Awesome! I really hope you enjoy the Mark L. I’m looking forward to it’s arrival in a couple of weeks. They definitely are a different beast in hand. Just be sure to read the instructions, they may be robust figures but they do have intricate and fragile parts.
I took these pics in August of 2017, and my collection has grown exponentially more. Currently have 74 Iron Man/Tony Stark, War Machine figures.
I actually laughed out loud just now remembering that and thank you for the reminder. "Why do I even talk to you guys?" Poor guy. My favorite comic book character of all time and just getting downplayed left and right in the MCU. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright, got the Hot Toys Diecast War Machine Mk III full breakdown article and gallery up on Kuma Style. Link in sig Per usual the article breaks it down by category but overall I gave this one a 9.5 out of 10. It nails the look to a tee, the build is miraculous, and takes all of the cool stuff that the Iron Man XLVI does engineering wise and does them even better. Literally the only miff I have is the articulated hands not holding the baton as well as I'd like and that's huge. Here are some pictures from the gallery portion (total 14 pics as of this posting
MK1 is still the best looking WM armour in the films, IMO. Although thankfully the sets he used in Endgame also round out closer to how I feel WM should look. The Civil War armour started giving him his bulk back, at least, but I'm not a fan of the cheek lines he gained starting with the Iron Patriot armour.
