Looking at the pics I thought the same - the colour looks identical just with a shinier, high gloss finish.
And given the shambles XTB made out of their Boost re-deco's with supposed Metallics and toon colours and three different versions, all of which were still a mess of mismatched colour, I'm a little sceptical of any XTB "alt deco" that isn't super obvious. The G2 Stunticons are a clear and obvious alt deco... with these, it just looks like they used a different brand of clear-coat, noticed it was a little shinier and decided to call it a "special edition"

As for the "plastic barley" - google translate does some weird sh#t with Chinese. Hopefully, it means the stand and tractor beam cone actually fit.

 

It's like ibot and dalianjj had a conference last month and decided to re-release their previous products (and FT future products) in shinier finishes, knowing many people will rebuy them just because.

I never liked the finish on Klaatu, especially the arms, so this will probably be a buy for me, but even so it's sad to see so much factory time spent on repaints and reissues when there are more important figures to release.

edit: Just saw some high res photos and even on this new metallic version the yellows don't match. Bleh.

 

@ibot will the legs on the final release really be 2 different shades of yellow, or is that just a test shot?

 

missed out as well. didn't care for the gap in the feet of the Zeta/Toyworld version.

 

With so few toy designers in this hobby I wouldn't be surprised if one designer spoke to another and this info then reached to Keith and his counterpart at FT.

Fuuuuuh. I was so comfortable not swapping out my ToyWorld version... but this just looks better. Although honestly the one I like best of all is Omne. Okay, I talked myself out of It! *whew*

So it was only Monday I was lamenting the fact that I completely missed this guy at release. Then missed out on two second hand copies as someone beat me to it both times. I come check this thread see a new paint version due out soon then preordered at tfsexpress today.

Wow. Sometimes things work on odd ways. That or primus really wants me to have this figure. I'll take it as a sign.

 

I have the first release and it is by far the best Cosmos. Plus this figure is just gorgeous. The paint was already premium on the first release, this metallic version looks even sweeter.

At the moment this is the lowest price outside of Taobao.

Funny how this v2 Klaatu looks a bit more like the glossy XTB renders for v1 Klaatu.

 

Was there any issues that XTB needed to fix?

 

For one they need to fix the peg that connects the tractor beam to the underside of Klaatu. It barely makes a connection and when it does it isn't too secure. I'll be screwed up if we get a darker glossy paint job but the tractor beam peg is still jacked up.

That's a pretty big box for little Cosmos!   Of course, there is a lot of stuff in it.

 

really hoping they make the lower legs match. keep seeing more pics with that odd cheddar colour for the lower legs. they got the 1 run to match, why not this 1? @ibot , any word on this? really been wanting this guy but that just looks too weird.

 

@ShowZStore shows in stock and doesn't have pre-order as an option. Not sure if that's a mistake on their part or if they actually have him already??
