That's good to hear! I like how he looks, that waist just scared me away. Maybe I'll still consider him at some point.

Anyone know the size/model including threading for the screw used for the back of the hip joint?
    mmc_terraegis.jpg
My Terraegis has had inexcusably loose hips since I got it. I'm finally getting around to attempting to fix it and the screws are all stripped. I managed to get one out but I'd rather not do the other side until I can find replacements.

I created all the tempo designs to mimic those vintage Paris-Dakar sponsors. Mostly are french companies/brands :
SKI PENGUIN (with MMC Penguin logo) = AIR AFRIQUE (air company)
    FERAL REX = PIONEER
PERFECTION SERIES (under ) = PASTIS 51 (alcohol)
MMC (under red U.NEM) = TF1 (channel tv)
    TERRAEGIS (blue) = TOYOTA
    AZALEA = BRIDGESTONE
    SPHINX = PHENIX
    FUROR 1 = EUROPE 1 (radio station)
B.S.A. JESSLIN = S.E.V. MARCHAL (engine lubricant oil)
OX RALLY SHOCK = GAB RALLY SHOCK (suspension)
    ...
And give some shout outs to Hard Return, AK, PAIK4LIFE, etc...

Got home to a parcel today, the whole lower leg to terraegis. The factory replaced the broken part. Really quickly too, I was shocked. Turns out their customer service is 2nd to none like I had heard.

Hey all... so I ended up picking up this figure from TFSource, but there are a few issues with it. I'm curious to find out if these are common, across-the-board issues for owners of this figure, or if I just got unlucky.

Thing 1: the die-cast piece to which is back left wheel is attached is super loose and floppy... no friction at all (and doesn't peg into the little peg that's there). So in truck mode his wheel essentially splays out and collapses (images below), unable to hold his weight. The right-side piece is a little loose too, but much better and can at least stay in place with friction.

Thing 2: His left door assembly is, I believe, missing a screw. It pops off really easily, and the one on the other side seems fine. But it looks like there's a vacant hole where a screw should be... unless these pieces are just peg in?

Thing 3: his hips seem kinda loosey-goosey. I heard this was an issue with their Hoist, but I was under the impression that Trailbreaker was a little tighter overall. He's not exactly floppy, but the hip joints definitely swing around a lot if I pick him up and jostle him gently.

Has anyone else had these problems? The missing screw seems pretty straightforward, but as to the looseness in the wheel and hips... is that the norm, or did I just get a lemon? Thanks!

Mine had a somewhat loose connection between one of the wheels and its peg. I put a drop of PVA (white) glue into the slit on the wheel, pegged it in and let it dry. That thickened up the slot, and it is fine now.

I use PVA whenever I have that type of connection issue. It is safe on plastic, and you can break it down with water. Surprisingly, even after more than a year on toys that I have had to do this, the PVA still does its job.

Short answer... yes your experience is very common.

Cool, thanks for the advice! I've never heard of PVA glue before... going to look into it! That sounds promising.

EDIT: Oh, haha, I guess wood glue is a type of PVA. So I guess I'm familiar with the stuff, I'd just never heard that name. Thanks!

Ah, okay, that's good to know. Not worth trying to exchange it, then... I'd be just as likely to have the same issues on the replacement.

Thanks guys! This is very helpful to know. Sounds like my best bet is to just find a replacement screw and try to tighten up the connection on that peg, rather than going through the trouble of a replacement.

Still a nice-looking figure, even with its issues. It just could have used another polish pass.

I have had to rebuild the hips on all my Terraegis molds (Terragis, Artifix, Rally Yellow and Rally White). Loose hips and stripped screws. Also the ankles, rear wheel assemblies (usually the left side) and ab joints are often very loose. Unfortunately, they decided to pin these joints and they are diecast so there is no popping the pins and repairing them. That said, MMC has been very helpful with getting me replacement screws for the hips. They are an odd size and threading and I could not source them by other means. Even my factory contacts in China. Just contact MMC CS.

Over all Terraegis is good looking but very mediocre design from an engineering standpoint, and reminds me of the very early days of 3rd party. The hip design is the worst (I do have a mechanical engineering background as well as currently work in the toy industry) and the hardware is not that well tolerance in general. MC could have done much better and if I hadn't bought all 4 at the same time and just bought 1, I'd never have bought the rest. This figure has pretty much put me off of MMC for good. XTB Aegis hardware and QC isn't all that much better and while I do prefer the silver forearms and thighs to Terraegis unpainted grey, neither are particularly better than the other and it wasn't worth buying Aegis to try to replace Terraegis. Still, Terraegis once repaired, is decent and I like the "toy" options for the shoulder blasters and shield generator which Aegis cannot do.

Interesting! You put a lot more work into it than I think I'm willing to, haha. But I guess with your field that makes sense. The loose hips are a little annoying, but I think I can live with them. He can stand up, at least. I'm definitely passing on their Hoist and Rally, though (as much as I want a Diaclone Trailbreaker)... I think one of this mold is enough. While I don't typically like to get things as "placeholders," he's definitely a placeholder until an official version comes out.

He's so gorgeous, damn shame he's wrought with so many QC issues.

What are the main issues with this version?

They kinda vary from case to case, but floppy leg joints are mostly common. Mine has overly weak hip ratchets and feet with no friction. Some people have issues down to the knees as well. For some, the torso joint that enables the ab crunch is totally loose, the body basically folding in half at the slightest touch.
Additionally, all the additional paint covering basically every square inch of the figure causes some joints to be abnormally tight.
On mine in specific, the yellow piece that sits on the end of one of the arms isn't secure and likes to pop off.
Basically just tons and tons of minor stuff, totally fixable but unfortunate to deal with.

I recently used some future polish on his ankles and ab joint and now he’s perfect. 7C940D67-EA98-41B7-AFA3-B210EBB217F4.jpeg 08FD9582-8620-4B83-932F-E9ADB4DD3582.jpeg

I really want the Yellow Ocular Max but I with all the issues this version has it may be a deal breaker for me.

The yellow one of mine is much more solid than both aegis and terraegis. Mileage may vary etc but I absolutely adore the yellow version and want a white one if it ever pops up

I may consider it since its still fairly easy to get and it looks like the Toyhax sticker set is compatible.

My yellow one has the worst QC of any third party figure I’ve ever handled. Looks cool, but what a mess. If you pick one up, hope you get lucky.

I must have gotten fairly lucky with mine as it doesn't have any major issues. That said, I bought a used copy that I believe was featured in a review on TF-Source by someone called Maz, so there could be some differences (his review mentions it's an Asian market release). I really like it.
