Yeah, that's why it came in the ugly black box...

The so-called "Premium Finish" is how they get chumps like me to pre-order a toy I've already owned for a decade...

Anything out of the ordinary on the Arcadia VE-1? Build quality and everything is up to snuff?

Absolutely. Coming as late into the line as the VE-1 usually does, there are rarely any QC issues left to address... Yamato knocked this particular variant out of the park, and Arcadia didn't mess with their work.

I was just gonna replace the old Yamato release with this new Premium Finish version, but I actually like how they display together:

Is the arm armor any easier to remove or still a PITA?

Missile set looks nice but I'm not going to put much effort in finding a copy, I can easily live without it.

All this talk of Chunkies made me want to do an OG group photo. Snuck in their long lost TF brother too.

Like @Slave IV has mentioned previously, everyone here must have at lease 1/55 Chucky Monkey to start off the Macross collection.

    OR

Maybe possibly the G1 Jetfire (if you still have it since your childhood and not tossed it way during the purge). The HMR VF-1s Hikaru/Roy maybe another option, however it can be up to $200+ USD on the secondary market.

Selling my Max, Milia and CF reissues is one of my biggest regrets. I also have no idea what happened to the box and armor pieces to my VF-1S. I swear I've checked everywhere twice. I'd love Bandai to reissue them again.

I've got a lead on a vintage 1/55 Takatoku Hikaru VF-1J for about $160USD, I saw a quick picture of it, includes box and styrofoam insert, but I don't know about other accessories or condition/yellowing etc... assuming it's complete, unbroken and in good condition, is that a good price? I'm trying to get my hands on at least one example of every unique large scale VF-1 toy across all eras, and this would really fill a sweet hole in my collection!

I personally think that’s a decent price nowadays. I paid around that for the Focker VF-1S reissue I have displayed. It was MIB though. Open box but unused. My G1 Jetfire came complete without stickers applied still on sheet and fairly minty for like $350. Hopefully that gives some point of reference. Those purchases were in the last 6 months.

cool, thanks! I'm gonna see it on thursday or friday, I'll get a better idea of its condition then and make a decision. I'm excited that it's a Hikaru J though, that's my favourite colour/head combination!

Those are lovely. I really want a Valkyrie but haven't figured out where to start yet.

Arcadia, Yamato 1/48 or 1/60 V2, Takatoku or Bandai 1/55, Hi-Metal R...you can’t go wrong with any of them so take your pick. All great in their own ways. Of course, you should try to get at least one of each. ;)

They're going to eventually release just the strike parts as a set right? I mean, they will right? Don't tell me I have to buy another valk just to get those parts. Right?

    Fuck.

If you are talking about the DX, the parts ONLY come separately. And they are TWE so you will need to pay tax and shipping domestically on top of shipping to wherever you are but the good thing is the preorder will be a breeze.
