So awesome being a Voltron fan in this day of age! Even though I never cared about VV, I'm happy that those of you that love VV are able to get an awesome set! And another thing is that I now get a second chance to purchase a Golion. The fact that if it wasn't for the fan love of VV, Golion might not have been reissued ever. Soon now everyone gets to be happy!
At least VV will be sold in major NA retailers, some other Bandai stuff don't even get sold in the USA
Well this release was really targeted more at the Western market more than the domestic one. Shows like Dairugger XV were a dime a dozen in Japan in the 80s and I don't think that's there's any particular nostalgia for it there. The bot owes all of its relative fame to Voltron, and I imagine even most of the Japanese fans would probably have become aware of it through the adaptation rather than the original show. I think Bandai is just hesitant about trying to sell Soul of Chogokin in the USA because they figure that anyone who is a big enough fan to drop $300+ on a super premium robot toy would be willing to go the extra distance of ordering that from Japan. But I suppose that these days with the success of Hot Toys and other stuff in that price range has convinced the manufacturers that there is a bigger market for absurdly high end collectibles than anyone previously believed.
It’s already being discussed heavily in the SOC and Voltron threads. Just FYI, preorders open on June 3. Should be 4pm JST. All the favorite Japanese online retailers will have it starting around that time to a couple hours later.
What will be the possible sites to pre order this from? BBTS I know, but what other sites are likely to put the pre-order up? I want as many chances to order this as possible...

All the domestic shops listed above will have it later by a few days or a week or so. Japanese retailers like Nippon-Yasan, Anime Export, CDJapan, amiami and HLJ will have it starting at 4pm jst and later. Amiami usually opens right on the dot, cdj and HLJ a few mins later and NY, AE and Amazon Japan could be an hour or more later.
Most of those sites take PayPal . But you should go to all of those sites and look at their payment faq , cancellation policy along with setting up a account .
I'm guessing amazon japan will have this cause I'm goin to have to pay for this like I'm paying for mp44, buying a $50 amazon japan gift card every month.
With all of the talk about Dairugger.... I'm getting excited to get some more Voltron in my life. Quick question, has anyone heard any news on the Icarus 2nd release Voltron? I've been hitting up Lau from ICM about every 3 months or so, but I figure he's getting tired of me asking. Does anyone have any info on the release?
Looks like the dairugger preorder is going up at the same time as Bandai’s VF-1S Valkyrie, so this will be a fun time.
Thanks man. I’m pondering participating in the early morning 6/3 madness just to get one more shot at Dairugger. Who knows...maybe people will be so hell bent on Macross at the time that they’ll be less focused on the other items available. Or, I could be delusional...
