...I’m curious but is the applicant alllowed to be a toy collector?

Reason for me asking is because one individual I knew was asked to leave the company after finding out he was a toy collector. But then again, his level was very low.

 

That seems like a strange reason to be fired.... "hey you, you clearly know a lot more about stuff related to our brand than we do, therefore you must leave."

 

He would have had to violate company policy in some way other than being a toy collector. Companies do not take into consideration personal life choices in termination unless the individual commits illegal acts. If he brought his toys to work and it prevented himself and others from completing their tasks, then yes termination is possible
