WOW!!! So glad I waited and didn't go for a FT Grimlock as a filler. Another massive, chunky beast from GP. Can't wait to get him and complete the set.
I've just watched the video and damn, as a Grinder owner i've been following this thread for a while and i think it just convinced me to switch, i really like how he's engineered and i can see the transformation joint of the knee being used in place of the ankle tilt, which is not optimal but i think i can live with it. Edit- Also, i'm not sure if it works like that but i think by using the shoulder transformation you can get the shoulders to sit lower
They both suck pretty bad. Bot modes I mean. Neither is a really good placeholder for a good grimlock. Question is will someone actually make a really good or great grimlock.
I've underlined my areas of concern. 1. His arms actually come down lower than Grinder's (and they're bent in this picture, whereas Grinder's aren't) 2. His shoulder's still sit the same way. 3. No leg panel. 4.The lack of Ankle tilt. (Not highlighted) 5.Poor forward kick. (Not highlighted)
I mean, Planet X Grimlock is still undoubtedly one of my faves, but I understand if you're not looking for FOC Grimlock.
Ankle tilt could be better, the rest is exactly what its suppose to be, big,really painted and shinny, well proportioned, updated GRIMLOCK dont change anything giga
No really dislike those designs. For me they are as bad as live action movie tf designs. That being said, foc dinobots actually did look pretty good. Much better than that hideous bruticus.
I do want them to change the ankle tilt I mean, the rest of him is pretty much perfect, so why not make the rest perfect as well?
Hmm. I agree about the designs thing. For me, I loved those Dinobot incarnations because they didn't act like ******ed puppys and talk like cavemen.

Looking good and can't wait to finish up my Dino's. Fingers crossed there are ankle tilts but if not I'll be fine as they already take up tons of real estate and I don't need them him in an Ironman pose lol. @ the end of the day you can't go wrong with either choice in my books. Makes me wonder though if we wanted a Perfect Grimmy bot mode would we have to sacrifice the Dino mode then? (DONT HATE ME!! Lol) as in Flames Toys type of figure??
I finally watched the whole video and am still 50/50 on this guy. He does some things quite well but seems so dated in other ways. No ankle pivot is sad but then they have a deep ab crunch. Hip skirt flaps are ancient but then they show decently done dino arms that can change claw orientation. It also looks like there's no way to hide the bot mode Autobot symbol in dino mode... (*--__--). I'd honestly like to see his flame accessories as well as his throne and shield finished too.
I'm curious and terrified at the same time, is the plastic cover on the chest removed easily to put a faction symbol in that space? And also, will the space be the right shape for a reprolabel or will i i have to just stick it on top of the clear part and be sad about it?
Wow, That comparison pic really highlights how flat out awful Grinders proportions are. Those weird giant boots for legs and his sunken head. It's an absolute bloodbath.
Yeah, but to be honest, there's some things that Grinder does better also. The leg covers would help bulk up Superator's legs.
Is the styrofoam in the box higher quality? There's a confidence in the design of the chest and torso of the Giga unit thats completely missing in the Fanstoys one. Well done Giga you've knocked it out the park.
