Yes. It is a huge letdown as I really thought I could somehow make it. But it would be irresponsible considering my situation. MP-44 is for me the probably best incarnation of OP since the show was first broadcasted. That means people have been waiting for him for more than 30 years. It is hardly believable for me but I have to pass...

I'm sure there will be rereleases in the future, probably at a lower price point. Maybe by then, you'll have better luck with your budget (no judgement here, sometimes things are tough for everyone)

This is true. If you can't get it at the first shot, wait for the rerelease and if you start saving now, you should have more than enough when the time comes.

I've looked at other options out there and I've decided it's best for me to save up MP-44 rather the buying alternatives out there. For me personally, MP-44 has more going for it than what I've seen elsewhere. Not to knock other options. Just going with what appeals to me more.

For situations like this it's good to there are viable alternatives out there currently and in the future. Everybody wins. :)

lol you are always advocating for 3P alternatives. He said 44 is the best for him.

Yup. No alternative has the trailer nor complete range of motion. People often say the alternatives are cheaper but leave out the fact there's no trailer nor the other random dead horse beaten lists. Bwah I'll stop when ahead. Me wanting this has nothing to do with being a Takara loyalist it has everything to do with going with what has what I want.

I can get 2 of the alternatives with change leftover but still left wanting.

lol. He said he'll have to pass on MP-44.
At their prices, it's almost as if Takara is intentionally setting themselves up to be KO'd. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time.

I hope so, but I will still have a rough time putting that much money into a toy when there are other more important things in life and when it takes so long for me to save that kind of money. We shall see.

    How I feel too!

There's a TF exhibition at Yokohama's Doll Museum.

Now, this is the only photo we've got, and no unfortunately I think that isn't MP-44 facing off against MP-36 with an energon axe (pretty sure it's MP-10, based on the ankles and feet, and the narrow cab windows of the truck next to it).

    But!

Take a look at the MP artwork posters along the back. It looks like we've got our first (low-res) look at the card artwork for MP-44!
Also I don't recognise the artwork right next to the Optimus Prime one either, could that be MP-45's?

    4DA16C97-D4B1-4757-8797-0D4D485FFF0D.jpeg

I'm sure we'll get some higher res pics soon enough. I really like how they've got Shockwave, Starscream, Prowl and Sideswipe set up 'transforming' with multiple copies - so damn cool!

Nice! Also I think you can make out the silver stripe on MP-10's forearm.

Re: the yellow guy, I'm hoping against hope that the oblong greyish blob in the upper right is somehow a hand cannon, and that's it's 39+ ;)  (Not likely).

You’re posts are always fun. You’re totally right. That sunny day blue sky pic will be 44s artwork. And by god does it look like it is going to be amazing.

Holy crap I’m actually really excited for this because the new artwork has been stellar. Especially after Sunstreaker’s artwork of him racing up the mountain to aid autobot city during the decepticon siege. I know that’s just my own head cannon but he was helping Kup move blockades at the foot of Lookout Mountain. (Yes I know he was in the shuttle from moonbase 1 but that’s besides my point)

The new artwork has been amazing!

Good eye, @Sam, that’s definitely MP-10 in the display. Those posters are super cool and that does appear to be the artwork for 44 and 45. I’m excited to see a clearer photo of this display and the posters, it’s an awesome Masterpiece timeline scene!

Heh, well that's also possible. But I feel like I can make out a chibi car mode at the top of the picture, and Bumblebee's head, shoulders and chest at the bottom right (and maybe the image in the middle is a mid-transformation shot?).

Great spot on the silver stripe.

One of the artists is on Twitter:

    安國一将 (@Kazumasa_yskn) | Twitter

Apart from doing TF artwork, he's also the artist of the front cover of Volume 4 of the TF comics being printed in Japan for the first time:

(previous artists of these front covers included Guido Guidi and Yuki Ohshima, the latter the artist who is helping design recent MPs including MP-36).

We know for sure that Kazumasa did the art for MP-39, MP-40, MP-15/16E and MP-41, he said so himself on twitter:

I think his artwork is a huge step up from the ones we got from MP-22.

Not so sure about the artwork for Cordon, looks more like the previous artist. Perhaps they're only paying more for the more important characters?

The artwork for MP-43 was done by a different artist (the same one who did the art for Cheetor and Primal, I believe, he's also on Twitter: マスクド (@r5WitWG0y8Poz0K) | Twitter).

Also thanks man, it's been hard to come on here lately, still feeling the loss of TCracker pretty hard, but gotta keep sharing any tidbits of MP-44 news!

Yeah it's a really cool display, I'll keep my eyes peeled for more photos on Twitter!
