I like that alternative style. Can't decide on which I prefer. I took a pic showing both.
Can I confirm that there's a groove on the arm but you can't quite lock it in with this choice?

    Groove.jpg

I found the handlebars being a little annoying. So I pulled them off and reversed them. Now they don't stick out so far and go backwards.
Dead eyes really piss me off and GT seem to do a lot of them. Will have to try and fix that.
Also I wish the shoulder covers locked into place or had another fold in them.
Really briefly if you like the others you should like this. It's not perfect but it's another cool release. Nicer than Katana I think.

Motor arrived recently and he's pretty awesome. So far I've only admired him in alt mode, but I'll get around to posting my thoughts on both modes once I've fully transformed him. Bring on the next member!

Mine's solid as a rock. Sarge/Streetwise is still probably my favorite overall so far, but Motor/Groove is cool as hell--and nowhere near as tabby and fiddly as Katana/Blades is.

Alt mode so far is all I've gotten to. The police logo looks a bit bland..

I took a leap and painted his eyes using a paint pen. Looks much better as I hate dead eyes.
I suppose for G1 it should be gold but this is IDW like. The eyes pop out and are a dark transparent piece.
Normally I try this with labels and with some effort I could have done it but was a pain.
Now I've taken the plunge I'm thinking of doing it with all of them to make them pop. Also putting red on Sarge's head.

    Groove3.jpg

This is how I like to pose him. I've turned the handlebars around for more clearance.
The shoulder flaps actually kinda lock into place on the hinges. Pops the cover out a little but not much.
Also using @Autobahn Jazz alternate arm transformation which I like. Makes him beefier.
Love these guys, not perfect but great. Ball jointed shoulders would have been great. Right now it's Motor, Sarge, Katanna in that order for me.

Looks good! These guys really need the eyes painted. Also did red on Sarge's head, really makes it fit in better. Generation Toy GT-8 Guardian (Defensor/Protectobots)

Yeah I saw those pics, nice :)
IDW look is slightly different but not perfect for Sarge. I'm thinking of doing the same on the ears and maybe all over the head like G1.
Going to see how paint pen looks but may have to dig out my paints

I don't even remember which thing I was looking at. I probably went and looked for G1 toy and toon colorings and then just did whatever felt right at the moment lol

damn hard to believe this thread was started back in 2016. Unlike FansToys though, these guys are actually releasing the stuff. Slowly, but it's happening.

This is the ones I've been using lately. I started with some sharpies and tried Sharpie Paint Pens but I found these not too long ago and they are great.
Some people use Gundam Markers for example.

Amazon sell them, ebay and other places. There are lots of colours and two types of tip. I prefer the bullet type.
They can rub off a little but i've not had much issue and they are far more resilient than others. It's only small eyes anyway.
Also I find it easy to scratch out the areas when I go over the lines.
It's worth experimenting for sure first somewhere otherwise you will have paint flowing into a pool.
I'm sure proper paint is best but I find these much easier for small fine areas and easy to get out and do.

Here's my custom of RID Blurr that I did using the white and blue paint pens.

Also I've completed Sarge. Gotta little to do on Blades head. Will post some pics tomorrow. :)

Definitely looks better with painted eyes. This one has one of the better face sculpts, but it goes to waste with the dead eyes. I went with gold paint for they eyes on mine, but I might try that blue since I happen to have that same color.

Looks great! I didn't even really think of gold which is the natural choice.
Not sure I could have pulled it off well in gold myself though

Thanks :)  It was one of the main Hasbro figures that had the detail but needed paint.
I've done lots of TF Prime customs to improve them.

I'll post some photos later on, but yesterday night I tried painting the eyes on Sarge and Motor with the metallic blue GSI Creos Gundam Markers and while it still looks better than unpainted, I think it needs to go even lighter with the blue. Then tried painting the head on Sarge with the metallic red and it turned out way too pink.

Going to end up picking this set of markers off of Amazon...
