Well so far we don't know for certain which one is Strike Four. I'm still in the camp that Strike Four is the baseball.

 

Saw a single listing for a Bakery Bites 5 pack on eBay. $60US from Canada is little too rich for 5 Botbots.

 

We know Strike Four is a Lost Bot and we know the baseball is not a Lost Bot

The listings only talk about the ones "featured" in a pack-- i.e., the 2 highlighted ones. I bet the Christmas tree is in an 8-pack but not "featured" because he doesn't fit either of the 8-pack themes. (For an existing example, see Holey Moldy-- not mentioned in the press release about the Spoiled Rottens because he was only in 5-packs, but shown in the group shot of them.)

If the birdhouse (or whatever it is) was part of the Season Greeters', I think he'd have been in their group shot.

 

That's why I'm thinking birdhouse and Shed Heads. Or I guess it could be a tent & part of the Jock Squad.

 

So I was checking the recommended 8-packs for series 2 and my goodness are there a lot of duplicates. Between the TP Itch and Mocklate packs there are THREE repeats and between the other two "recommendeds", two repeats.

I'm not going to research every 5 and 8-pack in existence to check for the same but three repeats is beyond disgusting. Any experts know if they did this before?

It makes me think there's one shady guy/girl at Hasbro who's sole job is to determine the distribution of Botbots while twirling their mustache or rubbing their hands together menacingly. Like who to make exclusive, who to quintuple up on, and how to make some recommended packs just not worth it but they know you need that exclusive...

 

It was like this in Wave 1, and even in the Bakery Bytes--it's all about the sales revenues, forcing us to buy more so the retailers who are their REAL customers, and the only opinions they care about, will buy more.

 

We obviously have to come with terms that duplicates are here to stay. It's just that three dupes between two of the packs with exclusives is just excessive. They could've diversified their non-exclusives a little more across packs but that would require thought/work and fairness.

 

I'm kind of appreciative of the duplicates, in cases where QC on one is wonky, the duplicate might be better.

I noticed that some blindbags here too are like this, but I am pretty sure it is the store employees who add the duct tape.
The definite running change is though that the numbers are no longer etched in by a pen, but printed next to the flap.

 

Almost forgot to post these.   And yeah, my Botbots are now "hidden" in my flat - the Techie Team is squatting next to my PC and XBOX360, the Toilet Troop are on the bathroom shelves, the Sugar Rush team are on the microwave and fridge, and the Backpack Bunch and the Shock Jocks, since I neither do sports nor school anymore, are just on various bookshelves.

 

Duplicates are an unfortunate inevitability. Looking at the Shopkins/Grossery Gang model it could have been far far worse. Nobody wants to end up with 6+ of the same fig(or maybe someone does if they really like a certain Botbot, I'm not going to judge anyone if they do).

 

My niece surprised me with a belated birthday gift of BotBots. ;.;


These will now be my most cherished transformers.

 

I looked at wave 1 and while there are some doubles across some of the recommended 8-packs, it never got as bad as triples. The recommended 5-packs had a really good spread, only doubling up on Waddlepop and hey, I can't be mad at extras of her. Bakery Bytes is by far the worst. Unless there are more packs we don't know about. You HAVE to buy all four to get the mystery ones and there are so many repeats.

That's a very positive look on this and I do agree even if I still don't like it. Sort of a blessing in disguise even if Hasbro's intentions aren't good.

I actually found Holey Moldey today , and no 8 packs in sight , again   Anyone know of an Ebay auction that has Big Cantuna or Mocklate in it ?

 

I have not picked up a new botbot for a long time. I've been losing track on what characters are in series 2 and 3.
