True. These toys don't have the same lifespan that some of G1 toys do (not all mind you but some). Fanmode is a-okay by me.

Well if you work a joint out of its socket often enough (doesn't matter when the toy is from) it's going to get looser more quickly. If I had the time and patience, I'd whittle off the mushroom peg part of the shoulders and turn it into a peg, then take the mushroom peg slot on the figure itself, fill it full of putty and turn it into a peghole to make the arms as easy to remove as Siege Cog's arms.

To anyone worried about wearing out the mushroom peg... you'd seriously need to be transforming Soundwave a crap ton of times before the mushroom peg disc will wear out in any significant way. So unless you're legitimately carrying him around and flipping between robot and boombox mode every 15 minutes sliding the arms back and forth heavy handedly, I HIGHLY doubt you'll be wearing anything out. Honestly, almost every TF collector will play around with a figure somewhat consistently for a week or 2, then it goes on display and doesn't get touched for long periods of time, so the speculating over the shoulders getting messed up is really overthinking things.

    Purely asthetics (a.k.a. "because G1")

Some folks really like the cassette door to sit flush with the rest of Soundwave's chest.

It was like that on the G1 toy and the MP version too (but MP Soundwave's torso is designed to hold multiple tapes without the benefit of a thicker door.)

G1 Soundblaster was designed with the thicker cassette door because it was easier to redesign that part than it was to redesign the robot's entire torso.

Returning to asthetics, I can see people complaining about Siege Soundblaster looking too chunky because of the thicker gold border around his cassette door, saying that it looks like it comes from the Dreamwave comic art.

For those people, Siege Soundwave has a cassette door that sits flush, just like the original.

As to why Hasbro didn't mimic the MP torso, to have a flush cassette door and hold two cassettes... um... well, you see...

I think it has something to do with Soundwave's head being in the way in his altmode?

You're onto something there, I just watched a video on YouTube, showing the transformation.

The head folds very snug against the back wall of the cassette compartment. No room in there for a deeper compartment.

Yeah I really like this mode and I did it on mine with no mods. From robot mode, keep his backpack up with the cannons to the side and bring his legs around to his chest. His hands tuck under him like in ship mode. That's it!

The colors look different, did you paint it or add reprolabels?

I was wondering the same thing, looks like stickers to me, or a fancy custom paint job!

Thanks for this. Saved me from ordering!

I don't like that sliding the shoulder joint with this upgrade.
