Why does Optimus get all the fun?! Who else thinks Megatron should occasionally get a super mode? By super mode I’m talking about Megatron combining with another character, drone or extra vehicle.

Any suggestions on super mode combinations? Was Armada Megs + Tidalwave the only Megatron super mode?

I’d dig a mode where Megs is a smaller ship that attaches to a larger vessel/armor. Sorta like a cab + carrier, Ultra Magnus style.

I also would not be opposed to a modern Siege-quality update to Armada Megs and Tidalwave!

 

Combining with another character is not actually a super mode. The Super Mode is exclusively used for when Optimus combines with his trailer not other characters.

Well it seems like kind of a waist that G1 Megatron's silencer and stock were totally useless in robot mode... but Hasbro can't make gun toys anymore.

Almost forgot about this one since Unicron was exclusive to Takara. This mold could also combine with Optimus Prime... and it's kinda weird that this is the closest we got to the Unicron Megatron from the show.

 

I've never gave it much thought but by the examples you've shown yeah i have to agree here. While my style of Megatron will always be a Walter P38 pistol. It's kinda hard to fit a extra mode in on a pistol anyway.

Let's see Super / Ultra Megatron, or a version of Marauder Megs. Or perhaps something based on that bitching armor from IDW's Chaos.

Also we're talking about Super Modes. I'm well aware of the gun platform thing but that has nothing to do with the parts actually being used ON the robot mode. That would be more like G1 Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime's trailer unfolding into a weapon platform rather than the super modes of RID1, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, and DotM Optimus Prime that actually use the trailer to give Optimus a powered up robot mode.

Basically the PotP versions of Optimus and Rodimus where the trailer actually forms part of the robot not the original toy where the trailer is just a weapon platform. I was suggesting that the silencer and stock should actually form some kind of armor for Megatron. Though it probably wouldn't be as impressive as having an entire trailer that forms your super mode but Megatron rarely has anything equivalent to that.

 

The Armada MegaWave combo looks stupid. I'm sorry, but it really, really does.

I'd love to see Megatron get a really cool Super Robot mode for once.

 

Couldn't the silencer and stock on g1 megs form a giant shoulder cannon that connected to the gun barrel? And kinda sorta give him a targeting thingy in front of his face?

I do agree that megs in general should get some more super modes.

 

I imagine there will be plenty super modes coming from Brunt and Siege Megs.

 

A Megatron with a super-mode modeled after the Marauder prototype from Animated would be cool.

Or maybe one that can switch back and forth between Galvatron like this old toy concept art.

 

I don't think it really looks that bad... but the fact that it hinders what little articulation the figure had and makes him even more of a brick is terrible.

Cybertron looks bad as Nemesis Breaker just turns into an arm and that's it... That's the entire combination. It's just lazy as hell... but then again so were all of Optimus' combinations in UT... except maybe Wing Saber... Cybertron was awesome... Energon was not as good but still OK and there's two combinations he can do with Wing Saber in Energon though I think one looks better than the other.

Just to clarify I prefer the red parts as the arms and the blue parts as the legs. It matches better with Optimus' color scheme and gives him the ability to fly. The other way isn't bad but all it does is gives him shoulder canons which is not quite as visually interesting when combining with a flyer as actually giving him wings.

Also looking at Cybertron again... most of Wingsaber actually ends up on his back other than the chest plate his look doesn't change all that much and Cybertron Optimus already has wings in his super mode kinda negating the appeal of combining with a jet. He also has swords which are kinda cool... AND shoulder cannons which seems kinda redundant. Why would you ever use swords when you have shoulder mounted guns. When are you ever going to be close enough to an enemy to use the swords? It's not like Transformers are ever shown running out of ammo... excluding video games where running out of ammo is a game machanic because unlimited ammo would be way too easy. Still like him better than most of the other UT combinations.

I think RID1 Omega Prime was the best combination and also had the best super mode but that's not actually a part of the UT which is why I didn't include it before when I was exclusively talking about UT.

ANYWAY... While not technically a Megatron… and also not even an individual character who combines with other characters... but should Galvatronus be included? Galvatron is usually an upgrade of Megatron and Galvatronus is the combined form of Cyclonus and four other bots... Limbs very depending on which version of Galvatronus you're looking at.

 

That has got to be one of the single worst alt modes I’ve ever seen. I understand it’s supposed to be a volcano?? It barely resembles anything except a lump of a head with pine tree branches.

Anyway as to the topic- yeah, it would be cool to have a Megatron with a super mode. His alt modes have varied so much over the years, that it could be just about anything.

 

I think it would be cool to make Galvatron a cannon as usual aand have him attach to a spaceship with double cockpit, kinda like Slugslinger's altmode, for flight.

 

Megatron got one distinct super mode. It was from the Battlestars manga, and it was a kickass tank-jet-gun vehicle.

That's a fairly accurate description.

The robot mode is pretty accurate to the cartoon and you could technically buy multiples of them and army build with this guy if you wanted to because of this...





They couldn't make Unicron transform proper due to the fact that he is the Earth in Prime so instead a bunch of smaller drone Unicrons would pop out of the planet's mountains.

Also the fact that the toy just looks like he transforms into his own head reminds me of G1 Unicron and what was left of him after the movie.

What about making him a tanker truck again like in Dark of the Moon except have only the cab turn into the main robot and make the taker trailer thing transform to make his super mode.

Or they could do like they did with Siege Shockwave. Make a base robot that is basically just normal Megatron and include some extra armor parts that aren't really anything on their own... sure it transforms into that murder hover board/driller thing but that doesn't really look like anything. It's not exactly turning into something specific it's just armor parts lumped together to try to be a thing.

Maybe... Not really but I suppose if they made a new toy that was specifically designed that way sure.

The only reason I don't count it is because the ship itself doesn't actually transform. Even when Megatron/Galvatron isn't in hand mode attached to that thing it still looks like a giant floating torso. I would love to see them redesign that thing so it actually transformed to look like a space ship even though it's not accurate to the show I don't care. The whole combining aspect would be a lot cooler if it just looked like a normal space ship and wasn't obviously a giant flying torso with a missing hand.

 

Looks like Megatron's getting a super mode in Cyberverse's second season!

And I actually wanna add this one to my most wanted list because it looks like they are actually giving these figures better articulation unlike the other Cyberverse toys that don't seem to be selling well...

Though looking at the toy in comparison to the animation model... As cool as a four armed robot should be it's just not accurate to how he looks in the cartoon. The colors seem off too. Like they made the toy helicopter a bright purple while the animation model looks to be a dark grey... or maybe it is purple like the toy just not such a bright shade. Muted colors are really hard to make out.

 

Apparently, Megatron Megabolt can be used as a head on Fort Max's body.

 

By design or just by placing it on top?
