Yeah that pic is actually of a uniform for fans to buy to wear. So far I've seen prices all over the place for them for anywhere from $60-$100+. I've honestly been thinking of buying one of these too but I'm a little on the fence about it as I already have the first contact, late ds9 version uniform, plus the tng series version.

Yeah that's true I didn't mean to forget early ds9 I just mentioned generations and voyager because picard wore that uniform in generations and voyager was the last time it was seen since the last episode happened after tng, ds9.

I've always thought the same with the origins of the ds9 uniform

From the description if done right which is a big if it might turn out to be pretty good if they are going for the optimistic vision of tng and its not all dark doom and gloom storylines. It is kind of fitting that he is tending the vineyard after what happened to his brother and nephew in generations, not to mention it is how we seen him in the last episode of tng. It is kind of disappointing he didn't follow kirks advice though about not letting them promote you. I really wonder if the Enterprise-E will make an appearance at some point with maybe a captain Riker leaving the Titan and getting the chair of an Enterprise like he always wanted with Picard telling him he doubted the Enterprise-D would be the last ship named Enterprise in generations. Maybe by this point the enterprise-e has even been decommissioned, or destroyed and we will even see an all new Enterprise-F. Hopefully they show a galaxy class make a few appearances.

Well not sure if Riker will show up, but Frakes is confirmed to be directing at least two episodes. You won't see much from the old series the contracts won't let them use it unless they pay for the right to including old characters. So if there is an enterprise it will have to be a new one.

Maybe they'll use some lore from "Star Trek Online: and toss in the Enterprise F, with the new Andorian captain.

They can't use other trek without paying for it. They have to come up with new trek ideas. They are paying a license fee just to use Picard. Every time they use anything from the cannon universe like a tribble they have to pay a fee to CBS. I know it makes no sense, but this is how the bad robot contract is set up everything needs to be 25% different.

That trailer was pretty intriguing IMO. It has slight Logan vibes: Picard has settled down but must return to what he does best.

I hope it turns out well.

I'm glad to see it's still possible to make a slow, seemingly cerebral Star Trek show in 2019. That alone is a pretty big achievement, I was beginning to think it would never happen again, between the Abrams movies and Discovery. Not that there's anything wrong with Star Trek being upbeat and action-focused (something like Wrath of Khan is pretty much an action movie), but I'm glad this still has a place and that they're willing to attempt it. I kind of hope the show is a hit, just for that reason (assuming it's well-made, at least).

Unfortunately I'm not terribly excited for the show itself. That has everything to do with me not being overly familiar with The Next Generation. I like the two or three episodes I've seen, but I'm mostly familiar with the Original Series show and movies, that's what I was raised on. At some point I'll watch more TNG, and then probably check out this show. My only worry is that they'll try to do some sort of Luke Skywalker/Last Jedi-style deconstruction of the Picard character.

If we see an Enterprise E/F it could be a design from the TNG Technical manual - looks enough like TNG, has the requirement of being 25% different, and is not a screen used design. Discovery takes a lot of the design elements that were going to be used in the Enterprise 2 that was designed for Star Trek Phase 2 , which then morphed into ST:TMP, although with the refit constitution, not the E2.

I'm thinking that the Starfleet Omega Directive is what caused Picard to leave Starfleet - supersedes all orders, to include the Prime Directive - Somehow the destruction of Romulus will create Omega Particles.

That's insane for something as continuity driven as Prime Universe Star Trek. It makes sense and thank you for taking the time to explain that to me, but still, that's insane!

A lot of it also has to do with merchandising rights IE anything associated with bad robot especially with toys has to have the distinct look not to confuse consumers with original and even next-generation designs against their own especially with the reboot series of movies

Sigh. Again, makes perfect sense, very sound business, but what a bummer how this side of the business is turning out.
