You're a couple days early; April 1 is still a couple days off.

Ah, I see. People here seem to keep pointing out how Bumblebee was a financial success so I thought Bay being attached would indicate he doesn't hurt. But you're saying it would have done even better...

It might have. I know people stayed away from Bumblebee because they thought he was directing that too, or at least influencing as a producer.

I think they're really going to have to advertise the new director(s) if they want to distance themselves from Bay. Like, "Travis Knight presents a Travis Knight film, Bumblebee 2, directed by Travis Knight." And/or change the aesthetics even more than Bumblebee did. They still looked pretty Bay.

I could see where people would say oh well he was the producer on Bumblebee and A Quite Place so maybe he's not a bad movie producer. Forgetting that he's also the producer on the Ouija movies, the Turtles movie that bombed so hard, I Am Number Four, and the failed attempts at rebooting A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

All the movies where Bay had a big box office run tend to movies that he also directed. So I'm not sure that having Bay hang around as a producer is going to put a lot butts in seats while the franchise is figuring out just how in the heck they can compete against things like superhero movies for the title of king of the box office.

I don't have anything against Bay, but I've heard that he's grown tired of working on Transformers films because they've been getting in the way of his personal projects, so I wouldn't mind if he stopped being involved in them.

Back then, they didn't really have quality directors so they went with people who had backgrounds like music video directing. Doesn't work all the time.

Then they also had people like Liebesman, who even without Bay couldn't direct films which were that great.

I remember talking to someone after seeing Batman Begins and he thought it was a prequel to the Burton Batman movies. I pointed out how they indicated at the end that the Joker already existed, which is inconsistent with the Burton movie where Batman confronted the Joker before his transformation.

Hahah! Wow! Interesting. Maybe some people weren't aware of the idea of reboots yet back then? It wasn't as common.

The Bay ship has sailed, hit the iceberg, sunk to the ocean floor, and yet someone wants to still exhume it, and resuscitate it-it's dead. It had a big fat DNR order all over it from its inception. Past time to cremate it, and throw the ashes in the deepest depths of the Laurentian Abyss. .

I say yes and no to keeping him around.

Yes because he worked almost back to back on transformers films so he went crazy most likely.

No because he kinda ruined some characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed Bumblebee until he transformed into a Camaro and was reminded of everything it represented.

Then, in the glamour of the good movie I'd just watched, unfortunately read the Sector 7 comic book that came with the 4K blu-ray.

Bay can jab his doo-dah into his yahoo.

Seeing how Travis Knight said that he and Bay worked 'closely together' on all of the action sequences and that he was a really helpful sorta quasi-mentor to him.

A producers chair and a hand on the visuals is perfect for Bay.

People's hate for Michael Bay is really bizzare to me. Way more responsibility for Transformers being how it was falls on the top leadership at Paramount giving him a full reign and unlimited money to burn. Then also with HASBRO for giving Paramount the power to give Bay the power.

I truly believe the man is either on the autistic spectrum or way into LSD, because the camera work and overdetailed kinetic shots he's criticized for really do have a PHENOMENAL amount of effort and detail put into them.

Michael Bay clearly just thinks spatially in the dimension of film in a way that's just too frenetic for the average moviegoer. He's a genius. He's a mad-minded, sexually frustrated genius who took actors and cameras out into the woods and to FUCKING EGYPT without a REAL SCRIPT and this man coordinated people to set up TNT and Shia and John and co to run around the globe and he just took what was essentially raw panning footage and he could just SEE the Forrest Fight, and the Devastator sequence. All that came months later under his direction.

Say what you will about ROTF, but its proof that Michael Bay is some kind of savant genius when it comes to special effects.

Bumblebee proves that when Bay and a grounded professional with a similar but contrasting background work TOGETHER that Transformers can revolutionize action sequences all over again.

All 3 1v1s in Bumblebee are world class blood-red-rage Furman-class robot death brawls.

Fanbois who still can't accept the Bay movies for what they were are gonna disservice themselves if Hasbro/Paramount listens and boots Bay entirely. Because you'll see he's an essential component that needs to be managed, not shitcanned.
