I wouldn't say piss ya off but I'd say care not to purchase it due to look of it. I really don't have to many transformers that i don't like. Since i try to stick to what i know I'll love anyway.

So what design choices remind you that you are not obligated to buy a figure?

My big thing is gaps. Large holes in backs or sides of arms and legs is why I'm not a fan of the Seige line or most of what Hasbro's been putting out over the past few years.

    1) bad facesculpt: that is why I don't collect 3rd party
    2) Extra articulation that breaks the sculpt
    3) logo spots
    4) articulated hands that looks stupid like every finger the same length
    5) Light up/sound gimmicks

    - Stuff that doesn't peg in and just hangs there in bot mode
    - Parts that optionally detach from the figure (TFC/Warbotron mostly)
    - Visible, protruding hinges and parts on what should be clean altmodes, especially MP style. Should be designed to sit on the inside, not the outside.
    - Extreme partsforming. Half of a combiner being a separate part, or bots used for donor parts (MT for example) where you can't do anything with the leftovers.
    - Clearance issues, optionally in combination with painted parts.
    - Needing too much force to transform parts, making you feel like you're gonna break something (and sometimes do) or that you're doing something wrong and the part doesn't need to be transformered though the instructions seem to tell you that it should... which brings me to the next point:
    - Instructions that are unclear. Steps missing, difficult to see which way something must go, 4 steps just to rotate something (happens with shoulders/bicep orientation a lot)

Second this. I don't despise it but good lord it drives me crazy. It's just a lazy excuse for partsforming an essential limb when it can't transform with the head attached. There were so many cool figures in the mainline but I only got one before deciding that the headmaster gimmick just wasn't working for me at all. Removing the head should have been an option imo, not a requirement

This. Right. Here. The general complaint also applies to weapons like on Maketoys Thunder Erebus.

Cosigned hard on all these points.

Also - bad instructions. Even Hasbro is guilty of this. Maybe it's harder than it seems to make clear, precise instructions.

    Thank you

Blue windows. Glass on vehicles generally isn't blue. Plastic windows on high-end model cars/collectables isn't blue. WHY ARE MY WINDOWS BLUE!!!?!?!

Toon accuracy - I want excess detailing and bumps on a 'masterpiece', rather than boxy, plain smooth plastic.
And give me some proper paintwork with that too, rather than just cheap, bland coloured plastic! :)

Real world accuracy - I want NO excess detailing and bumps on a 'masterpiece', rather than over detailed, bolts all over the place like someone orgasmed the details all over the plastic. And give me some proper toon color accuracy with that too, rather than just overly painted, distractingly painted plastic!

    :p

@freneticvirus saved me the trouble. We're on the other side of the same argument. :D

I've posted quite the rants in several Hot Rod/Rodimus threads about that---also because blue windows leads to blue headlights(even worse!), since they almost never mold multiple colors of transparent plastic for a single figure.

Oh, I have more stuff. Last night I watched Emgo's review of Ocular Max Saltus, and it has a couple of things that seriously irk me. The first is the tacked on weapon storage, when the blaster and sword could have easily been stored on the underside. But, I have mentioned that before. A new thing to be brought up is tiny clips and other things for connecting parts. Like, MMC Carnifex has a tiny connector parts that should have been integrated. Same for Saltus, the blaster and sword have clips when the tabs could have been on the pieces themselves.
I hate it when there are little extra pieces like that.

Faction logo recessed surface. Just leave a flat surface. The stickers almost never fit the designated space.

Add to my list, the joints hanging out behind the turret in tank mode on FT Warpath.

Overly excessive backpacks. Mainly some of the newer SS figures. If 90% of the vehicle is in a backpack you need to send it back to R&D.
