I'm in that similar predicament too. Everything left on my wishlist is expensive. Or mildly so. I missed out on a few like SG Blurr and SG Sideswipe because I was saving money and now they're selling for double what I saw them for but oh well. I learned strange deals show up at weird times. After all, I got the 2008 Botcon boxset for only $300 and Thunder Mayhem for $500 (and all his pieces are now $250 each! That's insane!). I also overpaid for tons of crap too, like paying $380 for TFSS Impactor and Bluestreak. Honestly, I'd say just wait it out. Deals show up on random times if you're attentive. But yeah, not being able to ship to you can be a nightmare. I'd buy JD Knight for you, but I'm worried that shipping may kill any saving you might get from buying it yourself.
Only thing I'm really wanting right now is Transformission Havoc.... might end up selling my Fansproject M3 to at least get Powertrain to get the ball rolling.
i'm pretty much in the same boat. Almost everything on my "to get" list isn't out yet and the few things that are (i'm looking at you BWN Magmatron) I refuse to pay 200 dollars for one figure when I've seen it go for 80 within the last 6 months.
That was one of the first figures that I couldn't find anywhere ever and eventually just forgot about.
I had one that I got in like 2000 for a really reasonable price and I wound up selling it and I regret selling it all the time.
I need MP Hound, a good MP-style Brawn...and I'll probably buy an MP Astrotrain. And then I'm done! I have lots of stuff I need to sell, though...
I'm in a bit of the same situation. Most of what I'd like to have that is "vintage" I've gotten. Mainly for me, I'm just try to stay on top of new releases for Masterpiece/3P MP. That said, I have a few white whales for G1 that I want to get at some point. That aside, I branch out into other toylines some, and there are certainly some figures from other lines I'd like to have. There are a few comic books I'd like to have as well. Collecting is as fun as it is frustrating at times.
That's not a problem, it's a good thing! Having what you want is cause for satisfaction. If you have what you want and you're not satisfied, that's the real problem.
I wish I had that problem. My problem is extremely low income/medical problems/disability & waaaay too much stuff I want but can't afford.
My problem is I'm at the point where what I want for my collection doesn't exist (e.g. Voyager scale Star Saber & Deathsaurus). My customs stack is backing up for filling the empty slots.
I'm kind of in the same boat. I just replaced all of my Hasbro CW & TR figures for their UW and Legends counterparts and am all caught up on Siege with everything else on preorder waiting to be fulfilled. I figure if I feel that need where I absolutely MUST purchase something for my collection, I'll buy some risers or better lights or anything else to make my collection LOOK better because my display is every bit as important as my the pieces in my collection.
I'm at that point that after a few more pieces are acquired there really is nothing else that I want to get and I'm not really that interested in new lines right now. don't feel like going back to collecting 3rd Party and it just feels like I'm at the end of collecting a lot of things. Feels pretty good to be at this point just want to get a G1 Jetfire and a few other Jetfires plus G2 Laser Prime and then King Atlas and Universe Ramjet maybe get Unicron Again go for the Platinum One and then after that not sure what else I'll feel like getting.
I’m down to only a handful of figures I’m after, excluding figures that have yet to be released. But rather than collect lines, I focus on characters, or specific versions of a character. So that really narrows the scope and I was going to reach the point of not having something to buy much sooner than most. Fortunately, there seems to have been a surge in Shockwave figures in the last year or two, so that has kept me going. Still have three more to be released this year alone.
Pure freaking luck. Just checked eBay everyday and someone listed it for that price. Simple as that. I've seen the 2007 box set go for $120 before but I wasn't quick enough to grab it. Long story short, getting things at a decent price is a waiting game. No skill involved, just luck.
Damn, I read that and my heart skipped a beat before I realized the sets I'd like to sell are both 2010 (Shattered Glass never appealed to me but G2 did).
Are you saying you have two 2010 box sets or that you have the box set plus the other exclusives that went with it?
I have two 2010 non-attendee sets of Streetwise-Breakdown-Spark-Clench-Skybyte (one boxed, one bagged).
