Now your Megatron can be an anime girl just like his!! (It's actually the Japanese-adapted version of the Predacon computer)

Same. I'm hoping a third-party company can release a Kaye chip with instructions on how to replace it on the figure. I may eventually install batteries for the light-up eyes, but not for the voice feature as it is. As great as Shigeru Chiba is, his interpretation of Megs is just way too wacky and isn't at all the awesome villain I grew up with to the point that it breaks the immersion.

Even for people who don't enjoy the Japanese dub of BW, I'm sure fans of Chiba's other work/characters like Captain Buggy and Kefka would enjoy the gimmick. He is one of the most prolific seiyuu after all and you can tell from the voice clips that he seems to have a blast playing Megs. But... again, it's just way too different from Kaye and eschews a lot of the reasons why we love the character.

You can even tell from Chiba's filmography... he voiced Kefka Palazzo, a villain known for being wacky and insane and clown-like, whereas Beast Megatron is more like Ganondorf as far as game villains go. (Come to think of it, David Kaye would make an absolutely stellar Ganondorf, what with how they're starting to give Zelda characters spoken dialogue.)

So I got mine in (finally) but I haven't followed this thread. These lines, which look like cracks, don't feel like cracks. The surface is completely even/smooth. The hip ratchets on mine aren't tight so there doesn't seem to be any excessive force exerted on the waist either (I moved the legs back and forth to determine the amount of friction). Kinda feels like he's gonna be fine.

Anybody had similar cracks like these and survived? Haven't transformed him yet.

Yes, that's absolutely standard. It's a byproduct of how the metallic additives in the plastic react to the constrained flow in the molds. It shouldn't be a cause for worry. Nobody with just the mold lines has reported any breakage in that area.

The breaks that have happened appear to be caused by an assembly error, causing undue stress in that area, and in all reported cases have caused a stress fracture immediately. If you've been able to move the hips, with nothing outright cracking in an extremely obvious manner, then you should be safe.

Hey everyone, Im a relatively new here and I've only really started buying masterpiece figures in the last few months. (those being Mp-32 and 36)

I was hoping to buy Masterpiece BW Megatron soonish to go alongside my Primal and was wondering do you guys recommend him? Especially for the high price tag? That part has me torn, the breakages also made me hesitant buying it but another member, Boostergold told me on a different thread the breakages are down to assembly errors. Which is a relief to be sure, I really want to get this fig as it's stellar-looking but the price is yikes.

Im probably thinking of buying it from Kapow as it's the easiest but the conversion from pound to euro will screw me over lol.

I very much recommend BW Megs, but he has a very special place in my heart. If you’re a huge Beast Wars fan, then you should definitely take the risk. He’s truly a masterpiece to behold and Primal would not be complete without him. So if you decide to get him, I wish you luck!

MP-43 is a great match to MP-32 (just like MP-44 will be to your MP-36), though personally I've had more fun posing Megatron facing off against MP-41 Dinobot. The chances of getting a broken copy of MP-43 seem pretty damn slim, but it's always a risk, however minor.

It is an expensive figure though. Which country are you located in?

He is expensive, no getting away from that. Personally I do not regret my purchase, I love the figure and consider him one of the best MPs. He is awesome, perfect even. However for me at least he doesn't offer the value for money say MP-32 Optimus Primal does. Unfortunately going forward that's just going to be par for the course, prices have been increasing exponentially...I really hope they plateau soon or I may just have to stop buying them. You make your choice, pay your money, and cross you fingers you don't get any issues.

Don't take my word for it though. This is a great thread (and forum) to get some open and honest reviews and feedback on him (and others) MP 43 Beast Wars Megatron

(if you do want to take my word for it thought my reviews is on page 2 ;)  )

Heh...if he's worried about MP-43's price tag MP-44 might be out of his reach for now.

I finally found a use for the inferno head I bought a couple years ago from shapeways. Megs has never looked happier :)

Anyone have a hunch on whether they'll have a US Hasbro release for this guy? I had to sell my MP Megs because of my very bad financial situation (at least I got a TM2 Megs out of it), but it would blow everyone's mind to see him at 1/2 to 3/4 the usual price, with David Kaye's voice and the original Beast Wars theme tune built in :bay

With Hasbro releasing MP's concurrently with TakaraTomy via Diamond or Hasbro Pulse or EE or whatever, it seems unlikely we will ever see Hasbro do their own individual releases again. They were mostly pointless anyway.

That said, TakaraTomy certainly isn't done with the mold. Let's see what they might come up with.

Oh wow. What do we think? I’d love a recolor so I can keep one in dinosaur and one in robot.

Sorry to hear that, I hope your financial situation improves!

I will be awesome to get David Kaye's voice though... Maybe a 3P upgrade just like what happened to MP-36!

Although, you can check Jobby the Hong' review for "more english voice clips" for Megatron!

That’s probably our best bet, and it something like that is produced I’d consider buying one.

    For now though…

I’ll keep watching that review. David Kaye was fantastic in it. :D

    “I can’t… nope… I just can’t… (laughing) I just can’t…”

    “I’m not saying it!!”

Since BW in its original English has quite a few fans in Japan, I can see TT releasing a recolor of MP Megs based on the original toy that uses David Kaye voice clips pulled from the show audio (as a Japanese entity, it's unlikely they'd get in touch with him directly like they apparently did with Chiba).

That review was pure gold and it was a pure delight to see Kaye get on board, just like he did in Robot Chicken.

"Why did I turn into an anime girl just now...? ...WHAT THE SLAG?!"

Speaking of which, how do you think a 3P upgrade would work? Unlike with MP-36, MP-43 has the electronics in a body part (the dino head/right hand) and so it would be more difficult to replace than G1 Megs' fusion cannon.
