John Wick 4 Confirmed, Sets Sights on Release Date Currently set for release May 21st, 2021!!! That was certainly quick.
It wouldn't surprise me to learn that what will end up being JW 3 and 4 was originally meant to be one film that was split in half. In 2017 Chad Stahelski gave a few interviews saying that there was no intent to go beyond a third film and that JW3 would wrap John's story. The possible split would explain a few things, like for example Jimmy the cop not getting his obligatory appearance, and Kassian (Common's character) not returning when Common was giving interview in early 2018 saying he was in the film.
Chad has stated that a fourth movie would happen if the third was successful(but that was a recent AMA) and Keanu has stated that he will continue making sequels until the audience stops going.
He'll keep making them as long as we keep watching? But we'll keep watching as long as he keeps making them! It's an endless loop!
hopefully, it is good I enjoyed all three so far but I feel one day they might go downhill. But don't want to think about that.
See, that's the way to NOT do things. I love these movies, but I don't want them milked and squandered to the point that they start bombing and/or are beating a dead horse. Get a plan, stick to the plan, and please try to go out on a high note.
The director Chad Stahelski said fairly early on in development (mid-late 2017, in the aftermath of Chapter 2) that the third film would be the end of it. I'll echo @Incepticon - I don't like the idea that these will keep being made indefinitely.
While I agree with this completely, it will never happen if the movies are making the production companies money. And if Keanu ever chose to stop making them, then hello spinoffs.
