This is the best thing about Season 8. Even people who liked this show can’t enthusiastically get behind the ending. “Content” doesn’t exactly “sell it.” Please don’t take this personally it’s not meant to be a criticism of you in anyway, merely an observation of reaction. I feel like the two camps are....

    Fuck this show
    And
It’s alright they had to end it sometime or somehow? It’s fine.

Is anyone enthusiastically satisfied by season 8?

My brother was telling me how wrong I was for the last five episodes. I got a text last night from him after I got off my flight, and even he couldn’t defend it anymore.

I liked episode 5. A lot of people hated it. I thought it was good. Episode 6 left something to be desired, but it wasn't a train wreck like everyone makes it out to be. I find it funny that HBO wanted it to go out with a full season. The writers were like nah. We got other shit to work on. Wrap it up. We get to make GoT in space next!

I liked the episode. Some parts were a little predictable, but the ending was satisfying enough. A couple of spinoffs set up too, although not sure if those will get off the ground after the response to this season.

I thought we did - didn’t Arya bump into her a few seasons back and it was sort of symbolic of how much Arya had changed? Edit - Yep, Arya bumped into Nymeria in Season 7.

Well I think I'm pretty much done with this thread at this point. There's nothing more to talk about as this show was a waste of time and I'm tired of talking about it. Thanks for the great debates over the years guys, enjoy.

I was most surprised that Oprah didn't show up at the end yelling "Your story wraps up with a pink bow! Your story wraps up with a pink bow! And YOUR story wraps up with a pink bow! Everybody gets a pink bow!!!!!!" considering that's what happened.

Anyway. It's done now. Moving on.

Aw c'mon the comments on youtube are great. It's almost like a psychology experiment , about people seeing what they want to see or how easy it is to assign false equivalence to situations.

Still think non-emo John would have took Grey worm spear or no spear. Nothing indicated he was a master with it like the Red Viper, more like it's the unsullied weapon of choice.

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. She did run into Nymeria and almost got attacked by Nym's pack. Was a while ago so I think I just forgot about it.

With the amount of potential cash sitting in this series, I'd say there's a 90% chance of a sequel series with the same actors.

Meh - I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. It was "ok" and from a certain standpoint, it made sense, if perhaps just a bit too neat. I guess my biggest issue is how we got to the ending - it was too much change without much (if any) development, and also minus the sudden killing off of main characters. That Dani was killed is no surprise, but had some time been taken to properly thresh out the plot, it would have been no surprise to see Arya, Sam and perhaps Pod all meet a sudden demise.

After such an epic tale over the last eight years, I'm not really sure that any ending, even with a properly worked build up would have been really satisfying.

Hell, I'm not even expecting the books to deliver anything satisfying, if they appear at all. GRRM was stating late last year that he was really struggling to finish the next book, and so I'm willing to bet that he'll pop his clogs long before he gets around to the final volume. Which would be a shame, firstly because I'd like him to live on, and secondly, it would irritate me not to have a "proper" conclusion to a saga that I started reading more than 20 years ago (almost half my life!)

My own personal preferred ending would have been at the battle of Winterfell. That was a potentially world ending event and needed more time to flesh out. Get the Lannister army up there to fight too instead of not showing up. Send Arya and Hound to kill the Queen while everyone else fights the Night King. Have Jon kill the Night King. Make lots of main characters die in the ensuing battle.
