Yes! So happy it’s back for a 3rd. I was surprised to see that ratings overall dropped for the second season, I thought it was just as good if not slightly better than the first (despite sorely missing Alara).

Indeed! Reading that article brought me to the comment section, this one, in particular, stood out to me:

    OrvilleSTD Quote.png

Not picking on the guy/gal, I get the point they're trying to make, but this is an incredibly sad thing to be able to say.

If you can say "I love Orville but I don't actually hate Discovery" and "if you take it as its "own thing" and stop thinking of it as ST it's more enjoyable" then there's clearly a problem with the show carrying the Star Trek name. That's part of what makes the show what it is, that it's actual Star Trek canon and not some "Oh, it's meant to be Star Trek, but it isn't. Consider it a love letter to the ST universe." You can use that last quote for something like The Orville, because that's exactly what it is and why it works when STD doesn't.

Such a sad state of affairs these days. The Orville, a love letter/spoof of sorts is more akin to Roddenberry's vision than one of the grandchildren that's considered official canon.

    It's utterly insane, people. Insane.

Heckuva note when the makers of Orville apparently like Star Trek more than the current makers of Star Trek like Star Trek.

I've always thought that Oreville is like another season of TNG. If you took Orville scripts, changed the characters and took out the jokes, and a few minor changes, it would EASILY be used by the TNG producers.

I got in on Hulu's Black Friday sale and honestly, I've used it to catch up recently aired episodes of Agents Of Shield and nothing else. Nothing about it actually stands out to me. I'll be fair and admit I haven't tried their original content and haven't given them a fair shake, but there's really nothing on there that catches my eye.

The fact that I'll have to keep it, just to see The Orville, kind of chaps my @$$.

Hulu is how I've watched The Orville up to this point, so this is perfect.

Hulu's a better fit for them than Netflix would have been, and a large portion of their audience are already watching the episodes on Hulu. We use Hulu to watch network shows and new release movies. Some of their original content is pretty good, like the above mentioned Catch 22. They also have the Into the Dark horror series of films that are enjoyable if you like schlocky horror. And they don't raise prices every couple months unlike certain other streaming services.

I'm just glad the show will continue to be made. I'm surprised Fox was willing to let it go. They've been notorious over the years for just sitting on properties when they decided to drop them just to prevent anyone else from moving them forward.

Yeah, pretty much the same here, we cut cable a while back and got Hulu plus live TV, to replace it. So we've been watching Orville on Hulu since the last season.

Perhaps a rather large Maus gave them a stern look and told them to let it go. ;)

And for the rest of the world literally nothing changes. Unfortunately
