That would be fairly unlikely. Anyhow, I'd be more concerned about them putting the toy together accurately at the factory. The last reissue flipped the inner chest piece, causing the hood to not sit flush with the torso in robot mode. And you can't fix it without breaking apart the torso that's glued together. You can see the difference here. The one on the right is the reissue and the hood is sitting ever so slightly at an angle.

I should hope that'd be unlikely for them. I wasn't exactly being serious. ;)  Sucks to see how that Rodimus Prime reissue went, though. I still have my original, so skipped it for that release. Would love to see an updated version for Siege, but not holding my breath. It would be nice for RP to get a properly assembled reissue, though. I'd have jumped on this reissue Soundwave had I not already have two prior reissues, plus the Shattered Glass one and a Soundblaster.

I'm buying these all for the MISBness. The only ones I've opened are Hot Rod to flip the tray around (the plastic ties are still intact) and third copies of the minibots.

I hear ya. These will definitely look good in a display. Nearly my entire post-80s Transformers collection of over 450 items are MISB or MOSC. Some of them will be opened eventually, but the G1 reissues will likely all remain boxed. I think the only one I opened of those is my Ghost Starscream, but I have a second one untouched. But all my originals up until Action Masters are opened and take up a single box. Everything else fills one of my sheds. But seeing a G1 reissue in a nice box brings back some great memories. Soundwave was my very first bot and i played with him until he was a floppy mess. Probably why he's one of the few of my originals I no longer own. Hm. I may have to get one of these (if it gets a rollback price) to open and sit on my desk, but I'll be keeping its box stored in excellent shape if I do. Hopefully there won't be much/any mold degradation with this release.

This right here is a great reason to do G1 reissues: so that those of us who grew up in the 80s can get another chance to get toys that we always wanted. The G1 packaging does a lot for the nostalgia.

Soundwave has been reissued many times, he remains one of the most popular G1 characters. But this is the first time we have gotten a domestic USA release with vintage style packaging. I'm looking forward to it, and hope that everyone who wants one will be able to get one.

To be fair, only the trailer-less Prime is a variance new to the Walmart reissue. The other changes were made in previous reissues.

Last time Gears was officially released was in 2004 in the TFC series. That mold should have degraded exponentially.:(

Agreed. The logic that these G1 reissues are unwarranted because they've been released sometime in the past 20 years is baffling. People change, collections change, hell some people weren't even old enough to collect when these were first reissued.

Lighten up, haters, and enjoy the ride! You'll be a lot happier if you do.

Molds degrade with use, not when they're sitting around not being used.

Unless it's made of ultra hard carbon diamond, all stuff degrades, especially when not in use.

Isn't Walmart Starscream unique in that the prior version to come with the Megatron and fists to hold him was anime colored versus the Walmart's being toy colored? Technically, we haven't seen those fists in toy colors, correct?

Yes, technically they will degrade over time. But toy molds are steel and generally take more abuse when in use than when they're in storage. That's why Hasbro has made several versions of the MP-10 and MP-11 molds, but not others. The molds get beat up the more they're used.

That reminds me of my childhood Rodimus Prime. At some point I lost the trailer. In order to make Rodimus look better without the trailer, I took out the wheels in his legs and replaced them with wheels from one of the Constructicons.

I knew the Rodimus Prime reissue was assembled incorrectly but I had no idea it wasn’t repairable. I already had the Takara reissue before the Hasbro one came out so I passed on the Hasbro one.

You're probably right, but those changes from the previous reissue would be a return to G1-accuracy, would it not? I was responding to the point about these toys having variances from the original G1 versions.

Not quite. The colors are correct but the fist did not accommodate a Megatron-gun accessory until the Japanese Book Edition, which was in anime colors. So, this is the first edition with the darker G1 toy color fist that accommodates that accessory, something the original never did. The Encore Starscream used the traditional G1-style closed fist in accurate dark blue colors.

You're not telling me anything that I haven't covered in my previous response... Yes, this version is unique. But all of the changes were introduced before this version... it is only this combination of changes that is new.

I’m checking stores pretty much on a daily basis. I literally cannot help myself even though I know it won’t be there. I am so ready for this to release!
