Holy shit never realized that. Another proof that cybertronian designs were rushed af that they had to reuse an asset from different faction. Now that after I took another look at shockwave, his waist is taken from Optimus too.

 

This just goes to prove how wrong MIchael Bay was with his direction for this franchise. Had their designs been similar to these, I wouldn\'t have hated those films so much. 

 

It would have helped, at least. But the scripts and direction when it comes to drama beats still have issues.

 

Honestly, the first movie had interesting designs, and a passable plot. If they hadn't hit that writer's strike for ROTF, I think the series could've gone in a vastly different direction and wouldn't be as universally panned. If the movie designs at least showed more of the vehicle on their person (and in ways that wouldn't require cheating on the toys), we could see these movies very differently. As it stands though, yeah, so glad Knight took us elsewhere

In a way I'm kind of glad those designs are what we had for the Bay films. I'd be far more horrified to hear the murderous psychopath rage of Bay's Prime come out of Knight's design. Same goes for Ironhide and Ratchet. The fact that Bay designs don't look like the characters they're supposed to represent at least provides a degree of seperation. Now the characters can be handled the right way both in terms of design and characterization.

 

Again, those problems stemmed from the script and movie direction. Meaning it wouldn't help tremendously unless you change that along with the designs. But I still would've liked to have seen the 2007 movie with these instead of what we ended up with. (I still like that movie okay.)

 

Either the technological improve or the creators actually cared.
