    Well I have to hand it to them, I didn't hate the ending as much as I was expecting to. In fact, I was satisfied with what I got even though some of it doesn't make sense and they still didn't actually answer anything about the Lord of Light at all.

    First off, it was nice to see Jon actually acknowledge Ghost being there for the first time in like forever.

    Secondly, I loved the imagery of Dany when she was walking down the archway with the dragon wings behind her. That was pretty awesome.

    Next up, watching the dragon melt the Iron Throne was fantastic. It was a nice way of him saying, "Fuck you guys, I'm out and going some place warm."

    I was shocked that Jon was the one who killed Dany, but it felt very natural, especially when she made the statement that the people don't get the choice of what is good or not, only she does.

    Watching Tyrion find his siblings was a tad sad, but also great to know they are truly dead (though, Cersei still deserved a much more satisfying death). I really was expecting Tyrion to find them with a giant glowing shield around them. Glad that did not actually happen. :p

    Yet again IMPORTANT stuff happens off screen. Who the hell were half of those people sitting there when it came to choosing a new king? Also,w hy didn't anyone bring up the fact that Jon IS a Targarian and the rightful heir? Is it because they wanted him to be happy? Would it have killed them to have had something showing them coming together for this event or something? I did like when the jackasses started laughing at Sam for saying everyone in the kingdoms should get to vote for their king. Just goes to show that no matter where you are, the rich will always look down upon those they consider lesser than themselves.

    Bran being deemed king was kind of odd and out of left field, but at least he already comes with his own throne in the package. Plus, now the dude can make people wheel him around instead of just leaving him in the corner alone.

    I did also like the moment when Davros had no idea if his vote mattered.

    No fight between Greyworm and Jon was lame, but oh well. Hell, Arya was useless these last three episodes. It's like killing the Night King as pretty much the extent of her character and her sole purpose for existing.

    Braun/Bron/whatever was utterly useless. What the hell was the point of him at all this season? He could have just been there at the table and a quick line of something like, "How do you like your new role as treasurer?" would have sufficed instead of him being given a crossbow he did nothing with and then leaving in the shadows at Winterfell to say he has a task to do at King's Landing. At least his dialog at the end about the brothels being his top priority was funny.

    Still absoluting NOTHING was learned about whatever the hell Lord of Light is. Just another utterly pointless plotline in the entire show. Gendry served no purpose in the long run either.

    So is Arya supposed to be the Westeros version of Columbus? Okay.

    Jon is where he should be. Loved that everyone thinks he is going to abide by the old Night's Watch rules when there is no longer a need for the Night's Watch.

    Sansa becoming queen of the north was whatever. Sucks that she still lived as she did not deserve a happy ending. In fact, it's quite funny how everyone last week who was defending the show was saying people just didn't like they weren't going to get a happy ending and that's exactly what we got.

    In the end, I can't say I regret watching the show, but I have no desire to ever visit the world of Westeros ever again. Hopefully Netflix can make their Witcher series be what Game of Thrones should have been, especially when it comes to the Wild Hunt. Show HBO how an army of the undead should have been. Regardless, Season 8 is by far the worst season of the show as the pacing was all over the place and it just wasn't able to give the viewers a satisfying payoff to accompany all of the build up that had occured. I would not recommend the show to anyone who hadn't already started following it, but if you already had started, then definitely finish it off.

    BTW, I really feel like
    the dragon burning down the Iron Throne symbolizes this show in a nutshell.

    Given the relentless pace up to this point, this was a pretty lackluster and even dare I say it, bland, episode for GoT. I wasn't expecting the first half hour to essentially end the story and the rest to be denouement to the point of nearly being an epilogue.

    My guesses weren't that far off in a "happy ending" scenario. I predicted Tyrion would be the reluctant king, Jon to go home with Sansa and rule as King and Queen of the North (Since they're cousins and that's a thing in Westeros), but the rest was as it happened essentially.

    Way, way, back, I had figured the ending would be Dany turns on Jon, but before Drogon could exhale, Rhaegal and Viserion would save Jon and start a dragon battle that would imitate Hiroshima in Kings Landing, reducing it to ash and ruin, with shadows of people burned into the walls and whatnot. Dany and all three Dragons die and Ghost drags Jon's barely alive body to safety as the Red Keep collapses. And mostly everybody dies.

    A finale not as bad as I feared or as good as I'd hoped. Still, I did enjoy seeing Edmure and Sweet Robyn's cameos, and Brienne's scene filling in Jaime's Kingsguard page was touching.

    So after a long journey, during which millions died, the final destination is King Bran and House Tyrell being the one great House being wiped out 'root and stem'. The internet's going to dine out on this.

    Fingers crossed the negative reaction acts as a spur for GRRM to finish the last two books.

    Not sure what you are getting at though.

    Sansa lived to become Queen of the North
    Jon lived to become King of the Wildlings
    Bran lived to become King of the Six Realms
    Arya lived to become Lord of the Seas.

    How is that not a happy ending?

    A couple of other questions I have though:

    1. Do the Unsullied and Dathroki have respawn capabiltiies? It seemed like their armies were replenished this episode.

    2. What was the entire purpose of Jon being a Targeryan when they did nothing with it?

    I didn't love the ending, but it was alright I guess. I dunno, it has me pumped for GRRM's ending more than anything, this didn't feel like the real ending.

    I quite enjoyed the finale for the most part. Although King Bran kinda surprised me, it does make sense (from a suitability perspective, not necessarily a narrative perspective) - the only others that would have made sense would have been Jon or Tyrion, since they specifically didn't want the job. It's been stated in different ways by different people, but this line from Plato sums it up "Only those who do not seek power are qualified to hold it".

    Some particular personal highlights

    * Destruction of the Iron Throne
    * Sam suggesting democracy and the reaction to it
    * Bran insisting on Tyrion as hand, to fix the problems he caused
    * Dany with dragon wings behind her
    * Small council discussion about priorities
    * Lord Bronn
    * Ser Podrick
    * "I... don't believe you're mentioned..."
    * Jon & Tormund reunited
    * Jon & Ghost reunited
    * "Uncle... sit down"

    Admittedly, it wasn't all good. I don't think Queen Sansa was that great an idea. Aside from the fact it gave Sansa exactly what she'd wanted from episode 1 in the form of being a queen, how many generations is it going to take before someone in The North decides "screw this" and goes on their own power grab? Or alternatively, how many elected rulers will the Six Realms go through before one decides "I'm having The North... and reinstating hereditary monarchy"?

    Also... did Drogon take Dany off to find a Red Priest to resurrect her...?

    I liked Edmure Tully’s bold power move towards the end of the episode.

    Sansa’s reaction to it was funny as well.

    I liked it. I still don't know how I feel about the season. The White Walkers should have been the overall, final threat as far as I'm concerned. But for where the story was at that point in time the final episode was really good for me. Got very emotional throughout.

    Shouldn’t there have been a huge hole in the wall at the end?

    1. Shrug... but it's like they skipped the part where they discuss some kind of reserve force, or the majority that died were just a small part of the groups unseen during the nighttime filming scenes..

    2... I think that's kind of the point, He wanted nothing to do with it. In his mind, Jon was always the Bastard, whether he was raised as a Stark or the legitimate Tangerine.. *yes that was intentional* and he grew up without any kind of ambition to claim the throne. He saw how it corrupted everyone, and chose the life of service at the Wall. You could say his Moral Compass pointed North the whole time, pun intended.

    Well, the wall is hundreds of miles long- that hole couldn't have been bigger than 1 mile, so it's pretty small in comparison, should be easy enough to rebuild.

    Any more, what would the point be in rebuilding it?
    The zombies are gone.
    Peace had been made with the those north of the wall.
