looks OK... for a video game

 

Very cool, though if I were the design producer or whatever, I woulda asked for the eyes to have the glassy coverings with the shining light of the eyes behind them. Would probably have a look closer to BW Megs\' eyes in the show.

What is even the difference between movie designs and video game designs these days anyway?

If anything that's why they're better. Video game assets usually have to be clear and easy to read for gameplay purposes, whereas most of the time movie designs are needlessly over-complicated "because it's cool."

IMO they should've had the same style eyes as Optimus and Bumblebee instead of pinprick iris like the Bay designs had.

Those black, empty eye sockets are too freaky.

They did that for Bee and Prime, but didn't with these Bots for some reason. I'm pretty sure it's because these are designed by a different artist, but I agree. I prefer the larger vibrant eyes like those of Prime.

I'm curious to see how they refine these designs in the sequels since these were rushed. Either way, I definitely prefer the direction they're going with these designs.

 

It's funny how these kitbashed rush-job designs are better than some of the entirely original, meticulously crafted Bay designs.

 

Gosh I love these. I’m really liking arcee and ironhide in particular. They just allure me in the most fascinating way.

Honestly they can probably chalk up any explanation due to alt modes and transformation into earth forms to make them look better.

I can’t believe that these are the designs that, most likely, we are going to have going forward.

It’s a blessing.

 

We didn't really get a good look at either of them in the film.

 

Overall, pretty good. Some stuff, not so much. Brawn doesn't even look like a Transformer and Arcee's face creeps me the hell out. Also not a fan of Ironhide and Ratchet sharing the same design, so hopefully they'll get different designs should they be in future movies. I know, they were the same builds in G1, but c'mon. Give me some diversity here.
Actually, a lot the faces in general don't look that good. Very flat and boring. Looking at the pic that was posted earlier of Bay Ratchet and BeeMovie Ratchet, I'd favor Bay's. That one at least has some visual interest as opposed to a a metal face in a helmet.

Don't get me wrong, I don't absolutely hate these designs. I think they're a step in the right direction, and probably just suffer from a lack of attention since they're more-or-less filler. Plus, there's a lot that I do like as well. Arcee's ankle wheels are cool, I dig the Ratchet/Ironhide build, Wheeljack's design is glorious, and Shockwave is pure robot sex appeal. But there is certainly room for improvement, and I can only hope future installments takes some initiative and builds upon all the things these designs do right.

 

I hope they give us a studio series version of this shockwave , soundwave and ravage...

Also is it me or does the final Ravage have AoE Lockdown's chest as his nose?

 

If you mean the vent moutheplate then yea i prefer it on the concept art

We got a good look at their faces, Wheeljack didn't have the mouthplate and Arcee was a bit more horrifying than the concept art
