I haven't followed the CW/DC Universe -- has it already been explained what happened to Batman/Bruce or not?

No, aside from Kate explaining Bruce just straight up left one day, hasn't come back since, and she's been the one holding Wayne Enterprises together in his absence (she tells the heroes who came to Gotham in the previous crossover).

It was mentioned in Elseworlds. Bruce just left three years ago. No one knows where, or why. Skip to 45s for it.

Wow. That trailer was pretty bad. It’s not nearly as bad as the first Titans trailer was, but it still has a lot of problems. I was rooting for Ruby Rose to pull this off, but her line delivery is really flat. I also have to agree with all the criticism for the irony of the ending line. “I’m not going to allow a man to take credit for a woman’s work.” She stole all of Bruce Wayne’s stuff and his bat theme.

I hope this generation of writers learn, make sure you have a solid story than you can add in progressive elements not the other way around.

While the line does not bother me, someone in twitter did suggested a better line which i agree would've been better, in which Kate instead of saying she's not going to let a man take credit for a woman work, instead she should've said that she needs to show Gotham that they have a new protector

I got the impression from the trailer that she's going to start the series as a very angry person. You see her called out for being a lesbian in the military, and then her father is holding her back, out of fear of losing her. The line makes sense in that context.

I'm pretty impressed with how much Alice's actress looks like her comics version. I just hope she eventually gets the flamboyant make-up and outfits.

This will be a glorious trainwreck. I gotta watch the first episode for laughs at least.
So has Batman... I dunno, gone on vacation? Bane broke his back again? Anyway a guy who is basically James Gordon in all but name is running the not-police, and a villainess called Alice who is basically Harley Quinn in all but name is causing trouble, and then Not-Gordon's daughter comes in and becomes a new vigilante because apparently the Batcave is this easy to find. Umm... I think they have confused Batwoman and BatGIRL here. Seriously, why not use the real characters? They are still not allowed by DC somehow?
As for Alice, I am sorry, but could not resist...

Seriously, never heard of her before, apart from the girl Mad Hatter fell in love with in Batman TAS. But I thought she was on in the cartoon, not in the comics. Otherwise, she seems to be a carbon copy or Harley Quinn, even using a bat of all things.

And man, people already are hating it. ~50E likes, 180E dislikes on the trailer. Guess CW doesn't have the Disney money to get dislikes deleted...

But that's not how you sell ideas these days, y'see... not to these stupid drama channels anyway.
I never thought I would say this after how terrible Titans was, but Doom Patrol made me hopeful that DC can actually do its characters justice on their own channel. Will see what Swamp Thing is like. But seeing this trailer I see now why they will not let CW and its ilk touch Batman with a 10-foot pole.

To make things weirder in the comics Alice is actually Kate’s Sister. But in the comics she wears elaborate outfits and Makeup so it makes more sense Kate didn’t recognize her at first.

Someone on twitter also suggested another alternate line of replacing "a women" in that one "suit" line with "me" so it's something along the lines of "...when it's worn by Me". I think that would make her sound too cocky though. intriguing.

Call me whatever you will, but my eyes immediately glaze over whenever a new female superhero comes out and her defining trait is "woman."

To me it's no better than female sidekicks or side character who were simply defined by their gender. You gotta give me something more than "is a woman" because being a woman isn't any more interesting a character trait to me than being a man.

Batwoman is never gonna shed that, her OG form was as Batman's Waifu. With her side-kick Batgirl being Robin's waifu.

The only pissing that is going to happen is in pants as people howl with laughter. If anything, it gives 'comicsgate' people a perfect example to point at how much the staff are screwing stuff up to be 'woke.' This is so bad that if you told me that the creators are secret comicsgate supporters, I would believe it.
