Ditka is more toy AND toon accurate in all 3 modes. My Ditka is fine but I don't play with my figures.

I understand the want here but I don't believe his alt modes we're ever actually specified on the G1 toy to begin with. And he's never looked like a Mig-25 in any representation beyond a passing resemblance.

Do people really worry about if a figure is the precise vehicle it was based off? I think its quite trivial as long as this thing is a jet, tank and robot im Sold!

I do care, the mode doesn't have to be precisely the same, but shouldn't be vastly different than the cartoon.

For example, these are jet and tank too, but mine Blitzwing should never look like these.

What part of BW's jet mode in the toon looks like that MIG?

I think it's the same claim you are making if someone said hey "I want G1 Sunstreaker to be a real Lamborghini Countach", when he never was.
I know TT gave us that and it's just stupid and the trade off is gappy alt mode with a long ass deformed tail section.

I can see either side of the coin here. A lot of people want a figure that looks like the cartoon they watched. IMO though the cartoon was made too look like the toy, not the other way around. To go further back, one of the primary points of this intellectual property is Robots in Disguise. Yes, they're robots with personalities and motivations and history, but also they transform into Freightliners, Countachs, F-15s, etc. To be blunt as a little boy this is beyond cool. It's a robot AND a fighter jet? To make a clumsy analogy, it reminds me of using a rabbit in horse racing. The objective of any race is to win, sure, and using a rabbit against a horse which cannot be restrained is a legal tactic. But the spirit of horse racing is that my horse is faster than your horse put some money up and I'll prove it. I can see either side of the coin here.

In any case, the toy technology of the 80's was not up to producing a triple-changer that could have two authentic vehicle modes AND a IP-fitting robot mode, not for $8.99. In the case of Blitzwing the toy industry is not up that task today. But a modern $100+ figure? Would it be so much to ask for the little boy inside me to finally have just one figure that is truly a Foxbat, Type-74, and a robot? Literally no other figure gets both his vehicle modes right. Just make one for us who love the disguises as much as the robot.

In any case, you can see how the limitations of what can be done with a nonmagical toy influenced the cartoon. THe ultimate purpose of Transformers was to sell toys, therefore the cartoon and the toy must look alike. It's easier to make the character concept, then the toy, then draw the cartoon, than vice versa.

It's a pretty selfish thing to ask for, I know, but I would love a toy with some fidelity just one good time. To put things in perspective, no other aircraft captures me quite like the MiG-25. It is the fastest fighter ever. There is a good chance it will hold this title for another 100 years. Like the great Dr Fager whose world record 1:32 1/5 mile in 1968 is the not only the second oldest record in American horse racing, but by far set under the most weight, when it comes to speed, the thing the Foxbat was good at, accept no substitutes. The MiG-25 is like the muscle car of the sky. A throwback to the P-47 "Juggernaut." All-steel construction, engines big enough to hold a party in, and in a drag race through the sky there's just no catching it. My beloved, mighty F-15 was made almost solely to counter the big Mig.

When Blitzwing flat out punked Galvatron, it cemented my love of the character.

As for the Type-74, well, it must be the most handsome main battle tank ever designed. I'm not as in love with it as I am with the MiG but it's still a freakin' tank. Fun fact, it has the same ability to depress and elevate the gun with its hull that the Strv-103 has.

What was that line he used in that scene? “This battle is over or I shall write it’s conclusion”

I'm happy with the early renders FT had shown for their BW. All I want beyond that is a smooth, enjoyable & satisfying transformation, good engineering with nice details, and have great articulation (and be able to stand without any issues). If they can pull that off, I'd be perfectly happy with it.

    Yep! Right to Galvatron's face!

Yes, I guess I forgot to mention, Fans Toys was clearly going to be the authenticity front-runner with the renders they had. God only knows what they're going to really put out now.

Yeah so now Blitzwing is factionless. There should be a series that follows him around the galaxy. He should bump into Devcon and they can have adventures together in the far reaches of space

How often has that happened of late? I think Phoenix was solid in that dept, but that might be the only one since the Dinobots... Although I can't speak for the headmaster shit because I have zero interest in it.

I agree. Makes me wish I had their Phoenix. While I do appreciate FT's commitment in their aesthetics in both bot and alt modes, their transformations are not fun at all on many of their releases.

    Where's this guy?
Astrotrain is coming and this guy has no news as of late.
Btw Astrotrain in alt mode ( especially train ) is way to long.

Yes, he came out a month ago and everyone bought one. He’s absolutely amazing and is perfect in every way, but we thought we’d keep it quiet about it for some reason.

Sadly it’s sold out now, so sorry you missed it. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience and I know that I personally will never be the same again.

Astrotrain is first. That is all.
