I agree. But honestly, after all that terrible DCEU nonsense, whatever the hell they're now doing with yet another take on the Joker in that Joaquin Phoenix movie, so on & so forth, I just don't care enough about Batman movies anymore to be angry about casting choices. Objectively, however, I personally don't think any of these names make a lot of sense.

Seems like it's always either the same batches of actor names thrown around between Marvel & DC -or- it's something soooo out of left field that everyone has to tell themselves "well, look at what people said about Michael Keaton / Heath Ledger and how well that turned out" as the same old tired example(s) to cite to make sense of it. Every. Time.

Like I said in another thread, I’m willing to give Pattinson a chance. He’s been really good in other roles outside of Twilight, and certainly has the look for a young and suave Bruce Wayne. Consider me interested to see where this goes if he does end up getting the role.

Affleck was the laughing stock of the internet when he was first announced to play Batman, and then the first images of him in the suit came, and eventually B v S itself. Now, people consider him to be one of the best film adaptations of the character yet.

I saw Robert Pattinson in a drama film, REMEMBER ME. I thought he gave a solid performance, and I think he can do good as Bruce or Batman.

I think Robert Pattinson is a solid pick for Batman. I'm looking forward to this film.

So is this a prequel Batman or a new DCEU continuation of a new shared universe with Mamoa's Aquaman and Gadot's WW?

To further prove your point, RDJ did this before his big comeback in 2008 with Iron Man and Tropic Thunder.

Nothing Pattinson did could have saved Twilight. That all came down to the direction. It's not really worth judging his ability from it.

The same can he said of his Twilight-Adjacent Cinematic Universe counterpart Jamie Dornan. Is he a good actor? I dunno, but you sure won't find out by watching Fifty Shades.

Pattinson can’t be any worse than Val Kilmer or George Clooney

I think I'd go with "source material" myself.

    - the last thing I saw Pattinson in was Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, and I was really in the mood for giving him a chance, but he was absolutely dire... - he was better in Twilight. Also saw him in Lost City of Z, but I didn't find him compelling and zoned out on the movie in general. I'm sure I can give him another chance, perhaps he's learned a thing or two since then.

I welcome our new vampire batman.

I won’t lie, I kind of wanted Hammer to get it because he had excellent chemistry with Cavill in Man from UNCLE and thought it would be nice to see them work together again.

Yeah, that would have been cool if Cavill was still going to be Superman. But the rumors are that he's done.

Hoult for Riddler! But I was honestly dreading him and/or Armie Hammer as Batman, who I thought were the inevitable choices.

Twilight has been so long ago that bashing it is hack. And obviously most of the people who make fun of it have never seen or read it (it's 100% terrible but it's also not for you).

Oh, well fair enough in that case. Best of luck to Robert then.
