I agree with your points. I also think his alt mode is pretty sweet. I just don't display mine that way.

I bought the shapeways photon eliminator for him a while back, it looks better to me than the TM in gun mode. I also bought two sets of the wrist extenders (different colors). They make his arms look a little goofy, but if you just stick one of them on his gun holding arm, it works perfectly and isn't visible at that point.

I don't have a TT Rodimus, so he's the only RP I've got.

So.... not really a fan of DX9 at this point. OMP still hasn't heard back from them about my manky foot, and I contacted them directly via the email address here (which corresponds to their Facebook page's stated email address) and I haven't heard back from them either. Sounds like @XIVOLVE and @Sean Whitmore may even have the same or a similar problem, too, so it could well be a batch-wide issue. Which is a damn shame because it's a really nice figure otherwise.

At least Hasbro got back to me within 24 hours to tell me they couldn't provide spare parts. Silence is worse than a negative response.

Sorry to hear about that. DX9/UT does not have a good reputation about responding to end/customer emails. They never respond 99.99% of the time. You're pretty much at the mercy of the seller to either do a full exchange or give you parts from another copy in their stock. DX9 caould take a page from XTB/KFC and FT book when it comes to after sales customer support.

So I think I've figured out what's wrong with his foot. From what I can tell I've been blaming a symptom, not the cause, and it means I'll need an entire replacement foot, otherwise it will just keep happening.

It's all due to this post from way back in 2015 and one of its replies, where the suggestion is made that the pin isn't straight. After trying to remould the piece with a little heat and some solvent it still isn't great (it doesn't even sit flat when fully extended), I broke out the calipers and checked the hole location in the toe piece. It turns out that the manky foot has holes at approximately 2.1mm off the bottom on one side but 2.7mm on the other - around a 30% difference. This means the pin itself is on an angle (about a 5% gradient, or 3°), which causes parts of the plastic to rub which shouldn't, catch when they shouldn't and ultimately ruins the function of the foot.

His working foot was approximately 2.2mm on both sides - near enough dead level.

Of course, this is all moot if DX9 never actually bothers to get back to me. And if they're tied up with UT than perhaps I need to reconsider some of my future purchases; or try contacting them via UT instead.

*ed: This would also explain the bizarre nature and location of the observed split. If it were assembled by someone getting paid 13¢ an hour or a machine - either way something which just doesn't care - than it would have been split by inserting the pin. As the pin went in, trying to skew the foot, it would have caught the square sides against the metal and, well, something had to give.

Y'know. Seeing how Gewalt and Chigurh are getting reissues, I wonder if Carry is next...

Great investigation. Though if that is the case, then does it affect ALL copies of the figure or just a few that were poorly QC'd or just downright ignored on DX9's part?

Since buying a lot of 3rd party figures lately, I've already had a few figures with bad QC, Zeta Jazzy, ZB-04 Catapult, missing combiner hip skirt on my TM Havoc, horrible elbow joints on some of the Constructor bots, and my copy of DX9 Carry.

If every copy of Carry has the foot issue, then I'm done with that mold due to their lazy product QC.

It would be awesome if they did more characters in this style.

I honestly suspect a QC issue over a mould issue. It's not always on the same foot (mine is the right, the thread I linked back to is the left), it's not a widely reported issue, and we're talking extremely small amounts of variation in the measurements. Just 5° off, putting them out by maybe 0.6mm (under 1/40th an inch), but the tolerances are extremely fine, leading me to suspect the holes are drilled rather than moulded.

Though, in complete fairness, if the figure had been completely and correctly transformed before it left the factory it would have been discovered. So whoever checked it either didn't check it properly (perhaps they never deployed the heel?) or didn't check it at all (in which case it's a good thing nothing else went wrong).

Does anyone have photo of Carry with Hoodlum? I think about picking Hoodlum to be Hot Rod for my Carry Rodimus. Are they scaling good with each other?

I have Hoodlum, it's the biggest piece of crap. Get a KO MP Hot Rod. It's a better figure.

Hoodlum isn't perfect but it's the best overall MP Hot Rod IMO.

Can you elaborate about your answer? Why do you find Hoodlum bad, and what is KO?

Have a little isue with my Carry: he came to me little mistransformed and had his head rotated faceward towards big screw (with wich his torso slider held). Because of this head position I have pretty big scratches on the nose of my Carry. I imagine that this is by no means a unique problem. How can I remove this scratches or can I buy a replacement face somewhere?

Also can you give me advice about how I can make wheels to roll better, mine copy of Carry have wheels on the stiff side.

All the paint is flaking off of mine. The articulation is horrible.
