I'm remembering all the outrage aimed at Keaton when he was chosen to play Batman. I'm going to take a wait and see approach on this.

 

Never judge a book by its cover. All I have ever seen him in is the twilight movies and that was just one character. Let's see how it plays out before condemning the choice.

 

Super solid choice. You can tell the people who are into film by the reaction to the casting, cause his recent indie efforts have been killer, dude has come a long way from the Twilight days. I was already excited for this cause of Matt Reeves, but this doubles it.

 

Of the actors WB was looking at, I was actually hoping for Pattinson.

I mean, I like Hoult well enough in other things, but not for Bruce/Batman.

 

LOL at all the people on the internet talking about “sparkling” Batman. You know the guy has been in other movies than just Twilight, right? Haha! And that was like a decade ago.

 

Interesting choice. Haven't really followed him as an actor, but it seems by the accounts I'm seeing he's well moved on from the whole "Twilight" thing, so unless he's a monumentally bad actor and I don't know it I don't see an issue there.

And to be honest, I'm actually kinda hoping that they DON'T put another hulking rubber-muscled Batsuit on him. So long as he at least gets his ^$$ to a weight room, I would actually be content with a live-action big-screen Batman who for once brings his own six-pack to the rubber-costume party, even if it means not being anywhere near as physically imposing as Cavill or Momoa.

 

So is Pattinson locked in as Batman now? Saw a number of updated articles saying his negations didn't close yet last night after those first reports. Seems like everyone's accepting it as fact this morning.

 

It's not a lock; He is the frontrunner, though.

I also heard the guy that played Beast from First Class is also a contender.

 

I’m actually fine with this choice. Yes he was in the crapfest called Twilight but the dude hates it too. A lot of actors are in bad movies. RDJ at one time was basically on a blacklist because of his substance history and now he is one of the biggest stars on the planet.

He’ll do fine. No one had a problem with him when he was Cedric in Harry Potter. Haven’t seen his work post-Twilight, but for real- the guy (like all actors) just needs good material and direction to work with.

Most of the actors in the Star Wars prequels were terrible despite the fact we all know them to be good actors.

It’s the diehard fanboys that freak out literally every single time a new actor is cast as Batman.

Or Doctor Who.

Or James Bond.

Or anyone.

And then they all go see the movie anyway.

 

Yeah as it stands right now, Robert Pattinson is supposedly the frontrunner, but Armie Hammer, Nicholas Hoult & Aaron Taylor-Johnson are supposedly all still in consideration as well according to Deadline, Variety & The Hollywood Reporter.

 

Seen some non-Twilight movies with him in it. Dude’s solid. Not sure why some people get their panties in a bunch, but it’s not the first time when it comes to the casting of a Batman I guess.

Is it insecurity? Is it the fear someone involved with Twilight will ‘taint’ the DC universe? Cos boy if it’s that last reason, I’ve got some news for you....

 

I feel like Hammer would have been a really safe, and potentially really bland choice, if they had gone with him.

I had forgotten that Taylor-Johnson was in the running, but like with Hoult, I just can't see it.

Hammer would be a better Superman than Batman, imo.
