The only complaint that I can understand is it being rushed. If they stretched the concepts out into a longer season I think it would have been a good wrap up.

I'm not blind, just not jumping on the dethrone thrones bandwagon. People are so fickle and get sick of things way too easily. That's what a lot of this is, they're just tired of it.

It's been a great (not perfect) series.

I swear there are some jaded people in forums and social media nowadays because their "beloved" show that they invested years of their life didn't come out the way they wanted. If a TV show about Dragons, getting killed for doing the right thing, and lines of succession that involve incest affects you that much, you might need to do some self searching about your life. That being said, I really don't get why people don't see why Dany went full "Mad Queen" and sacked King's Landing. If you paid attention to the show, you'd see why she's not as nice as people thing she really is. She's actually a cold and calculating killer.

    1) Dany gets sold by her weirdo brother to a bloodthirsty savage for a promise of an army who then repeatedly rapes her until she develops Stockholm syndrome.
    2) Dany doesn't flinch when her husband kills her brother in front of her.
    3) She survives her first assassination attempt at the market.
    4) Dany loses her husband to blood poisoning who then relies on a witch who she thought would not betray her after she saves her from being gang raped. The witch then double crosses her and saves her husband by turning him to a vegetable. Dany then has to kill her husband
    5) Dany looses her first child in a pact with Witch trying to save her husband. She then loses the ability to have children.
    6) She burns the witch and then walks into the funeral pyre to kill herself but somehow survives. Her ability to survive that fire solidify her the idea that she's Dragon and born to rule Westeros.
    7) She then threatens to burn Qarth after they deny her help. She then burns the House of Undying and kills a couple of traitors by burying them alive.
    8) Dany survives another assassination attempt.
    9) Dany then gets mad at Jorah & Selmy when she trades one of her dragons for an army. They don't realize the con that Dany is playing because they underestimate her. She then obtains her Unsullied army by backstabbing the Slavemaster's of Astapor. While this move looks good public relations wise since she frees a Slave Army, this is a cold calculating move because she doesn't lose any of her 3 dragons, gets reliable troops, and kills anyone who threatens her rear on her march to Westeros. Dany is starting to learn that violence can help her win.
    10) Dany crucifies the Masters of Mereen because she is "answering injustice with justice".
    11) Dany finds out that another one of her trusted advisors, Jorah, betrayed her for his self interests
    12) Semly tells Dany about her Dad's history and how "the Mad King gave his enemies the justice he thought they deserved, and each time it made him feel powerful and right until the very end." She then looses Selmy after being too soft on the Sons of the Harpy.
    13) Dany survives another assassination attempt by the Sons of the Harpy after being too nice and trying to placate the Masters of Mereen, who are at the same time trying to kill her and usurping her rule.
    14) Dany has to put down a seige by the Masters of Mereen & The Sons of the Harpy. She burns all if not the majority of her enemies.
    15) Lady Ollena tells her to stop trying to be a typical Westeros Lord and "be a Dragon"
    15) She looses 3 major allies in House Dorne, House Tyrell, @ House Greyjoy by following Tyrion's advice. She starts to doubt his loyalty since Tyrion is the sister of the person she wants to kill.
    16) She loses 1 out of 3 children trying to save Jon Snow.
    17) Dany then gets tricked by Cersei after Tyrion tells her that Cersei will march the Lannister army north to fight the White Walkers. Dany's confidence and trust in her hand takes a serious blow here.
    18) Dany sends her army North to fight the White Walkers. Even though She feels that her army should be hailed as heroes; they get an extremely cold reception and are treated with mistrust, especially from Sansa. Sansa pretty much tells her that even though Dany takes the Iron Throne, the North will never follow her because they would never trust an outsider again.
    19) Jon tells her that she is his aunt and he a more legitimate claim to the throne that her.
    20) Her army suffers 50% losses at the Battle of Winterfell and Jorah. She then gets no love and adulation from the Northerners because they praise him more than her even though she's lost the most out of the conflict. Her forces were severely depleted when she could have used them to take King's Landing but instead she used them to save people who have no interest in her rule nor gratitude towards her. They all praise Jon Snow even though he didn't really do anything in the Battle of Winterfell and who's really a shitty Battle Commander.
    21) Jon Snow betrays her by telling his secret to Arya and Sansa, Sansa then betrays everyone by telling Tyrion who then tells Varys. Everyone of her supposed allies are already backstabbing her by usurping her claim to the Iron Throne after she saved them.
    22) She loses another one of her Dragons and her best friend gets executed in front of her
    23) She then gets betrayed by Varys. Remember Varys tried to kill her when she was young and if you look into that scene again, Varys tried to poison her using the little girl. He pretty much exposed Jon's secret and no one is going to support her rule now.
    24) Dany is angry because the people of King's Landing do not rise up in revolt as they did in Mereen, furthering her belief that the people do not love her even though she is there to overthrow a Cersei, who is a horrible queen and does not love her people. She doesn't feel like she's gotten the credit and the gratitude.
    25) Tyrion betrays her by freeing the man who killed her dad.

So by sacking King's Landing, Dany made the correct choice in her position. People might not like it but I totally understand why. Remember, she has suffered a lot and lost the most to get to the Iron Throne by helping people who don't love her, then gets betrayed by her Westerosi advisers and allies, and finally loses her claim to someone that doesn't return her affection and doesn't even want the throne. Also, being Queen is her ultimate goal and she feels that it is her birthright and she will take it through blood and fire because that's her only choice.

To echo some of what was said above HBO did say:
    [1] GOT would end after season(s) 7 & 8
[2] That each of these 2 seasons would have shorter episode counts
    * That while season 8 only has 6 episodes it has a roughly 10 hour story
    * That maybe the reasons for [1] is due to the health situation with one of the main actors

I think this is exactly right. She's alone now. From this point on she's feared unquestionably. It doesn't excuse her actions but I think it explains her motives. I actually liked every episode this season. I read the leaks for the last episode and I actually understand the final direction. It makes sense I think.

So there has been acrimonious discussion about Dany being 'soft', 'stupid' or many other things with trying her less brutal methods of ruling because 'That just don't work' and the show itself has done a masterful job of pissing on anyone who tries being honorable even a small amount.

So as far as I'm concerned, the show is ending as it was always going to end. Where it began. Nothing changes because the setting doesn't advance nor does its overriding social structure or anything else that involves advancement of society.

I do agree that the rejection of her by the North in favor of Jon on top of wanting to make a bold warning against anyone wishing to oppose her (especially Jon and his sisters/cousins) sealed the deal in Daenarys making the decision to burn the city and its citizens to the ground (she's greeted by KL as a feared conqueror rather than a beloved liberator, contrasting with her victories in Essos).

She didn't just snap all of a sudden. It was definitely a cold but calculated move on her part (she tells Jon as much when he rejects her as a lover yet again). The only living person in the entire world she trusts now (aside from Drogon) is Grey Worm and he wants nothing but revenge, same as her. Everyone else she cares about is either dead or betrayed/failed her in some way, shape, or form.

The series finale will be bitter (if not bittersweet) and to expect a happy ending was too high an expectation, rushed final season or not. I'm hoping the books will sort out the various plot points in a more elegant fashion (if GRRM ever releases the next chapter) but I'm glad to have watched and enjoyed the show as its own thing existing alongside the novels. It has been a wild (if inconsistent) ride.

if anyone is brave the Episode 6 spoilers have been leaked.

Compilation of Spoilers for GOT Episodes 4-6 : freefolk

I am not however that brave. I just hope we get some good payoff for Jon, Tyrion and Bran. Dumb and dumber already robbed us of the Lannister twins conclusion so I hope theirs is better.

The problem people have isn't that it's not going to be a happy ending, it's that there wasn't enough proper development for Dany, along with turning the series on its head re: white walkers. It's like Carl in TWD suddenly becoming a voice for peace and reconciliation after spending 8 seasons as a proponent of being brutal and pragmatic. I'm pretty certain that the botching of Dany's development is a direct result of A) ditching the Young Griff storyline, and B) Changing Euron into discount Jack Sparrow.

    Book speculation:

Varys has been working on 'young Griff" for years, and he's set him up as a fake Targaryen. Remember the vision of the cloth dragon being worshipped/celebrated at King's Landing? I'm guessing he overthrows Cersei and is celebrated by the people for it. Euron, meanwhile, working either with YG or separately, takes control of one of her dragons with that horn. It is these two things that lead her to attack King's Landing with her remaining Dragon(s).

Especially after reading the newest released chapter from TWOW in Aerons POV concerning Euron. You can tell Martin has big plans for Euron and all we got from it was "I'm gonna fuck the queen"

We're not 100% certain that Cersei and Jamie were killed, although Jamie was most likely fatally wounded by Euron. Perhaps Cersei can come crawling up from the rubble so she can get the satisfying, on-screen death that she deserves.

    Any predictions?

I think Jon Snow is going to go Kingslayer and take out "the Mad Queen" after she tries to roast him with Drogon for his betrayal and from fear that the people would rather follow him. Jon will survive as Dany did back in S6 when she emerged from the temple flames unscathed.

There are a few articles out there claiming we may not have seen the last of the White Walkers.

No, that's how they both died. Both actors gave their official farewells via social media & interviews as soon as the episode was finished. They're done. They're dead. It's over.

I prefer "desensitized to spoilers" . I read the Wikipedia synopsis for Avengers Endgame because I knew spoilers were inevitable as Thanos and also because it would be another couple of weeks before I did go see the movie.

This article though reads like it's one part expected, filmed, or hearsay from a stage hand.. so whatever actually happens will happen, and then I can go back to waiting for Westworld, and if Nickolaj Coster Waldou makes Gods of Egypt 2.

I've enjoyed everything this season despite a lot of disappointment... I'm not that invested enough as a fan to rage over those disappointing aspects... But the absolute best thing so far has been the seven nation white walker army video.

It was all worth it just for that.

Amon Amarth probably would work even better.
