couldn't find a thread for this. if you missed out on "Transformers Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging" it is up for preorder in a paperback re-print scheulded for late nov: isbn: 9781684055715 isbn-10: 168405571 eg: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=9781684055715 Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging - Transformers Wiki
Yessss!!! I have the hardcover but would love a paperback copy to pursue through more casually. This is wonderful news!!!
Im very excited to finally be able to get my hands on this book for the first time! but goodness me that cover is ugly, like slapping on the word "legacy" in some wordart font just looks brutal. Some nice subdued font would have looked much nicer?
Nobody wants that. Everything has to be "cartoon accurate". Nobody likes or wants the original artwork where Dirge, Thrust, Ramjet, Pipes, Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Windcharger & Omega Supreme, just to name a few, actually looked cool. Everybody wants the babyish humanized faces that always have to have eyes, a nose & a mouth. Even though they're alien robots they all have to look human & goofy.
It's a really good book, I'd highly recommend any Transformers fan who missed it the first time pick this version up. A lot of the old packaging art is pretty fantastic
Fantastic news! I kept putting off getting the original release until it was too late. Not making that same mistake again...
For those that own a copy, what does it contain for images in relation to European releases of g1 soundwave, cassettes? Just Milton Bradley/Hasbro or all the regional manufacturers? France, Italy, Greece etc?
There is just one main page for Soundwave, another two page spread for his cassettes, and a third (later) for Soundblaster. There is an amazing amount of content in the book, but it is by no means comprehensive or 100% complete. I believe all the images are scanned from the original artworks, not just the toy boxes--so that is the nature of the limitation. For example: Action Master Bumblebee is missing. However, there is a section for some random UK oddities at the back. There is a fairly massive Japanese exclusive section (65 pages). There is some G2 content as well. This volume stops short of including anything BW or beyond.
I should emphasize that the Euro section is very small--only a few pages, and features some of the latter G1 & G2 repaints. This is as opposed to the Japanese section which is much richer.
Took me a while to find this thread. It appears that at some point recently, the release date was adjusted to Tuesday 3 December 2019. Amazon Barnes & Noble Target
