Men are allowed (or should be allowed) to feel sexy! But that Brie pic is not flattering her caboose. It still made me laugh though!

You know, its pretty cool to see what other TF fans do for hobbies or in their personal time. It gives more substance when you read their posts. So I commend you for sharing!

Back on topic-- I'm sure Tom Holland/Spidey has one of the top three cabooses of the current MCU. I actually appreciate that the MCU doesn't do pinup/beefcake shots. Maybe I'm getting older or whatever but we got other franchises that have that covered just fine.

One thing I don't understand about End Game...

The movie is set five years after Infinity War...

They specifically said that they aren't changing the events of the last five years, they're just restoring the people who disappeared five years ago to the present time. So what's the problem?

There's a scene where Peter reunites with Ned and they're both still in high school. Ned seems surprised to see that Peter is alive and well. This makes no sense.

If Ned survived the Snap this would explain why he would be surprised to see Peter alive and well after believing his friend to have died five years ago except Ned himself should have already finished high school.

Peter is still a teenager because from his point of view no time has passed. He was restored exactly the way he was when the snap happened. This should mean that all his friends and class mates would have graduated and grown into adults in the five years he was gone but that he'd still be a teenager.

In order for Ned to still be the same age he was five years ago that would mean he was snapped out of existence as well and there for should not have looked surprised to see Peter as he would not have lived the last five years thinking his friend was dead.

Also all of this stuff about not changing the events of the last five years was said before their plan went horribly wrong... So there's even more time travel stuff that makes no sense...

Thanos does his snap in 2018... This is when Infinity War takes place.

End Game is suppose to take place five years later so that means it's now 2023

When they travel back in time 2023 Nebula unknowingly becomes wirelessly connected to her 2014 counterpart. This allows 2014 Thanos to basically see the future for the next 9 years.

2014 Nebula travels back to 2023 disguised as her future self. Once there she opens up a time rift for 2014 Thanos to come into the future.

2014 Thanos and Nebula are both killed in this movie. So how is there still a Thanos in 2018 if he now dies four years before Infinity War... technically five years after but chronologically from his perspective Infinity War hasn't happened yet. I'm going from his personal year of 2014 not the 2023 because there is no 2023 Thanos as even in the original time line Thanos would have been dead before then.

And how is 2023 Nebula still alive after she killed her 2014 counterpart? They said they weren't going to change the past but they did change the past inadvertently by interesting with the 2014 versions of Thanos and Nebula who are both now dead and everything they were suppose to do for the next 9 years in the original time line can't happen anymore.

They've also tried to explain how time travel doesn't work that way in this movie but they almost immediately contradict themselves...

Like Bruce Banner claims you can't change the past while arguing with Scott Lang. However in another scene he then says that they need to return the infinity stones back to the times they were taken from. Why would the stones need to be returned if the past can't actually be changed? If the Snap still happens even though Thanos died four years before the snap and 2023 Nebula is still alive even though 2014 Nebula is dead then the Infinity Stones also should still be in the past even after they were taken... If the stones need to returned to maintain the original time line then Thanos and Nebula would also need to be returned to 2014 alive and with no memory if 2023. Either you can change the past or you can't but the plot of this movie suggests both. And just arbitrarily changes the rules to fit the narrative...

It's like they had two different writers working in this and they couldn't decide how they wanted the rules of time travel to work in this movie so they just did it both ways. And it makes no sense.

They pretty much just ruined every Marvel movie from the first Guardians of the Galaxy going forward because of the time travel plot that would in fact change the events of every single one of those movies.

Unless... there's a mutiverse... in which case then there would be universe all those movies still happen... a universe in which they didn't happen... and then I'm still lost as to how the hell everyone still ends up in an unchanged 2023. Because if we're going by multiverse theory then technically it would be impossible for the Avengers to get back to their own time and would instead end up in an alternate 2023 where the Snap never happened... They'd be restoring people who already exist in the current time line so there would now be an adult Peter Parker who never met Thanos and the teen Peter Parker who was snapped away.

And also if we're going with the idea that you can't change the past... that even if they can create an alternate universe where the Snap never happens... then why would any of them even be attempting time travel in the first place? I mean the idea that you can't change the past contradicts the idea of using time travel to fix anything. If you can't change the past then nothing they do matters, Thanos still wins. So why would someone who claims you can't change the past even be attempting time travel? The fact that you're entire plan involves changing the past kinda contradicts your arguing that changing the past is impossible.

Time Travel movies are confusing enough when the rules of time travel are actually some what consistent. When the movie itself can't even make up it's mind what it's own rules are that makes it even worse. Every five minutes I'm trying to figure out are they changing history or aren't they because they're constantly jumping back and forth between changing the past is impossible to changing the past is possible. Often times it's the same character making both claims five minutes apart from each other. The only one who's actually consistent is Scott Lang and he's often make out to be the idiot that doesn't know what he's talking about. Yet he's also the first person to actually experience time travel as he came up with the idea in the first place cause the five year time jump for him was only five minutes.

Are we just suppose to ignore all the continuity errors and inconsistencies caused by this overly complicated nonsensical time travel plot and pretend that some how everything just works? Cause it really doesn't... It's going to be really difficult to follow the plot of any MCU movies from 2014 onward because this movie has just utterly destroyed the time line.

Basically I think yes they will just ignore all of the ramifications. They will treat it as if the snap never happened, even though that is explicitly not the goal of Endgame, due to Tony's desire to preserve his family. What they actually did has a lot of consequences, which I mentioned in an earlier post. Where will all these restored people live, since many houses appear abandoned 5 years later? What will they eat, since 5 years is easily enough to adjust food production to the new demand? What happens when vanished folks spouses remarry? What happens to people who weren't vanished, but died anyway, via suicide, or accident (plane pilot(s) vanished, etc), or violence due to society breaking down? Stuff like that.

Supposedly Far From Home is going to address at least some of these aftermath questions, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Homecoming actually opens with Peter meeting another one of his friends who is five years older now and moving away (they could even introduce Harry Osborn that way if they wanted).

Also, I think a fun visual gag for a movie where he graduates from high school would be if they have a giant “Class of” banner in the background of one shot. However, this one would have an “x” across the original graduation date and the present year’s graduation date is just taped on at the end.

This is a really long thread... The last post I could find was just talking about Captain Marvel's ass... I don't really feel like checking all 161 pages trying to find what post you're referring to here.

I think you just answered your own question. Many houses appear abandoned 5 years later... So presumably they would just move into those houses... I'd assume minors like Peter Parker would just move back in with his aunt. That's not even really a problem...

Unless we're dealing with an alternate time line in which now there's the restored people from 5 years ago and alternate versions of everyone from a time line where they were never snapped away in which case that means that half the population has suddenly doubled. Two Peter Parkers, two Black Panthers, two of every person who vanished five years ago... but we don't see two of anyone so I don't think that's what happens...

That shouldn't really be an issue either. As someone pointed out after Infinity War cutting the population of the universe in half actually also means cutting resources in half since a lot of our food comes from the animal population. That means restoring that half of the population also would have suddenly restored all live stock. Unless your diet consisted entirely of things that were not life I think the food supply should of just doubled when all those people came back.

Plus... if demand went down for certain things during that five years that would allow the remaining population more time to reproduce. A lot of plants and animals can reproduce a lot faster than humans do so five years would be enough time for plants and animals to have reproduced more than what did exist before half the population disappeared. Basically when you adjust food production for less people you end up with more animals living longer lives and essentially increasing the supply.

Granted this would essentially mean a mass slaughter of animals as demand suddenly rises again... but I don't think that would really be a problem for the people... unless they're vegetarians.

That will be a problem. I think the only person we know of who lost his spouse when the Snap happened is Hawk Eye and he never remarried... He just went around the world killing bad guys who survived the snap. But I'm sure more ordinary citizens would have eventually remarried... or at least would be in committed relationships of some kind with other people. Five years is a long time to stay single when you think your significant other is dead with no hope of coming back.

The movie actually addresses that. Only the vanished are restored. Anyone who died in the last 5 years from some other causes is still dead.

That said... it's never explained why they have this limitation. They have something that is suppose to have unlimited power to do ANYTHING yet they can't use the stones to bring back the dead unless the stones were directly responsible for causing their death in the first place?

It seems like they created this limitation themselves and that the infinity stones don't actually have this limitation. It's infinite power to do anything so it shouldn't have any limitations at all.

I mentioned this during Infinity Wars as well but technically... all anyone should even need is the Reality Stone... It alone has the power to reshape reality which is all they're actually doing with the Infinity Stones so the other five stones are actually really redundant and unnecessary.

Power is kinda vague and could mean anything.

Soul could also be used to wipe out or restore half the universe.

But really when one is a reality stone that one alone would have the power of all six stones. So it doesn't seem like anyone should ever need all six when the only one you're actually using is the reality stone.

Anyway... when you have the power to reshape reality any way you want why would you ever be limited to we can only restore the vanished but can't restore the other people who died? Why would you even bring them back 5 years in the future instead of bringing them back to the exact moment they were taken? I mean that's gotta be horrible for teens who vanished to be restored five years in the future and find out all their friends are already adults while they still need to finish high school and possibly repeat the last year they were in when they vanished. Not nearly as bad as Steve Rodgers having to adjust to waking up in a future where most of his friends and family are either old or dead... But that's still kinda jarring to suddenly find yourself five years in the future.

I'm not really looking forward to future movies at this point. I loved what Marvel was doing up till now but this time travel nonesense just ruined a lot of movies... At least with those past films I can still enjoy them from what they were a the time before End Game screwed over the time line. But I can't imagine any movies going forward ever fixing the now messed up time line.

It's the same problem as X-Men. In trying to fix the franchise with Days of Future Past they just created an alternate confusing time line. Though some of those movies are OK on their own as stand alone films but as part of the larger shared universe it's a head ache trying to understand how anything is suppose to fit together.

Deadpool... he can save the MCU! Nothing has to make sense in universe when you have a four wall breaking lunatic in universe who can just joke about how the time lines are confusing. I know he's technically not part of the MCU yet but he could be in the future.

There really isn’t as many continuity issues as you seem to think, the way I see it you’re just overthinking a few things and seem to be stuck on other ideas on time travel

    Peter And Ned
Its obvious Ned did not survive the snap

And Ned wasnt surprised to see that Peter is alive, He was relieved and happy to see that Peter was alive, remember unlike any other possible friends Ned had that also didn’t survive the Snap (like MJ] , Peter pretty much had to go to war soon after

So Ned would still have to be worried that Peter didn’t survive that fight at the end of the film

    On time travel,Thanos and Nebula

You seem to not be understanding the basic concept here

With this theory, which has been used even in transformers stories

Changes to the past do not effect the future, they do not re-write history

    They create divergent timelines....
so let’s say you, from time line A ,were to go back in time and kill baby Hitler,

Then what you did was now kill Hitler of the divergent timeline ,time line B, when you returned to your timeline A, history would not have changed for your timeline
    line

Hitler would still be part of your timeline A’s history

But would not be for the divergent timeline A

What you have now are 2 separate timelines now Coexisting

This is why killing the Thanos and Nebula of 2014 had no effect on the same 2 people of 2018-23

Because the grandfather paradox cannot exist

Actually there’s no real contradiction and what he said....
the stones need to be returned to the divergent timelines created by time travel

Remember, traveling to the past results in creating divergent timelines

It’s kind a like traveling to the past of a parallel universe......but one created by the time travel itself

So, it’s like they created a multiverse with time travel

when They traveled to the past and altered how history unfolded, they created a new timeline would continue from that point on

Ned was happy to see Peter because the last time Ned saw Peter, he was jumping out of a school bus to go fight a giant spaceship. A spaceship that then flew off, taking Iron Man with it (reported on the news, so everyone knew). A few days passed, and Ned hasn't heard from Peter. He can't contact him. So for all he knew, Peter died fighting that spaceship. Or he got abducted. Either way, he was relieved to see his friend was alive. It's got nothing to do with the past 5 years.

The time travel stuff... you're over thinking it. Each change makes a divergent timeline. It won't change their timeline. They went into the past not to change it, but to bring forward the stones so they could restore what was taken. And they could restore everyone if they wanted (except Natasha and Gamorra), but Stark gave them strict instructions not to change anything from the past five years. So if they wanted, everyone who died in the 5 year gap could have come back, but they didn't because of their own self imposed rules.

And why return the stones to the past if it doesn't affect their timeline? Because otherwise those timelines would not have the stones to fight off evil. Because they are heroes. Good guys. They are not going to just let alternate timelines suffer for their own needs. That's what villains do.

The reality stone would only make things different while it's actively used. To just use that stone, someone would have to perimantly wear the glove and keep the stone on every second of every day of every year. We saw on Titan and Knowhere, altered realities from just that one stone needs the constant presence of the reality stone to work, and once it leaves the area, it returns everything back to normal. We don't know what the range of the reality stone is by itself, it may not have the ability to alter the entire universe like that by itself.
