It's not actual concept art, but I think they could've made this work, I mean I get why they didn't and how the current look has been more allusive to the character, but combined with Dylan's voice it gives that small but brave youngster upbeat vibe rather than the kinda Clumsy and baby-ish it gave me, I'm happy with what they went with anyhow.

 

I still wish we got Hubcap as well as Cliffjumper for a specific reason. Would've given that more bite

 

I bet if you asked the film makers that question they’d say “it’d be too confusing to have two short yellow characters!”

I like it. If I saw him smiling I might believe it more. Neat.

I'm glad we didn't get something like that. That face was fine for Cliffjumper's short cameo, but it's honestly kind of creepy-looking (I'd argue even more so than some of the Bay faces). It wouldn't work at all for the main character, it would likely have repulsed audiences. Bumblebee's role called for something gentler and friendlier. The design they used was great, it found a perfect blend between G1 Bee and Bayverse Bee.

 

Among those many characters. Which one of them, do you wish to see turn into actual figures? Movie accurate, non-transformable but fully articulated in large size?

 

I want all of the characters in the same aesthetic and quality as studio series BB Optimus. Transforming into alt modes from earth. They don’t need to be accurate or the basis for the next set of movies, but I just want a full line up of those characters. Also that megatron they keep hiding from us. And a Camaro bumblebee but cute and is actually a good toy.

For sure if any of the cast besides Prime and Bee stick around with more prominent roles, they're going to tweak the faces to have more expressive like features. The faces now give very "I. AM. ROBOT." vibes

idk why but when i looked at the concept art for ironhide the first thing that came to my mind is that he would probably make minecraft eating noises

"Why would he need to do a flying side kick? He has a big ass gun and a horde of tetrajets at his disposal. What’s the whole deal with him being thic, like bodies come in all drapes and sizes. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate you like the designs but what’s up with everyone wanting him being slim? His original G1 design is not exactly a slender body. We didn’t explore anything else besides these concepts. The Cybertron scene came late in production so we had 2 months to do finish it. The concept phase was only 2 weeks and there were many things to design besides Shockwave."

I disagree though, G1 Shockwave was pretty slender by well G1 standards. Or at least the toy was. Also why do recent iterations of Shockwave make the eye so bulbous? It's creepier when it's a small dot in the face.
