So yeah looks like we'll be seeing a sequel to the 2014 movie this October and from the looks of it,the title character seems to be slipping back to the role she's famous for.
I do love a good old hot mess and the original Maleficent film was the hottest of hot messes. I’ll see it.
I kinda enjoyed the first movie. It wasn’t just the same story as the animated one, and Angelina Jolie gave a great performance. The thing I actually liked most about it is probably the biggest problem with it though: tonal inconsistencies. It had the expected Disney whimsical moments, but it was bizarrely dark in a lot of places. It’s basically a PG rated rape revenge movie when you think about it. This looks like it has more of all those elements, so I’ll probably check it out when it inevitably hits Disney Plus.
Yeah, me too. It wasn't the greatest thing I've ever seen, but I had no problem with it. I enjoyed it just fine.
I also recall liking the first movie. I welcome the sequel. It's something different than the original film, and not just riding on nostalgia alone, so that's a plus.
The films plot was said to be maleficent and sleeping beauty had to team up to fight a new evil threat that plans to destroy both the human and magic world. Bet this trailer is tricking us as it looks nothing like that plot.
I saw the first one but don't really remember it too well. I'm trying to think actually of what movies Jolie has been in that I have actually liked and the only one that comes to mind is Mr and Mrs Smith and Wanted.
I can't tell if this is like an "alternate telling" of the first movie where she doesn't actually turn good at the end, or a true sequel. I guess that's why it's a teaser.
I'm going to say it now, Malificent was not good. It was like it was trying to be Wicked but with poor pacing, confusing decisions and dull plots. Jolie was the only decent thing in that film and not even she could save it.
Eh, take away the marriage drama with Brad Pitt, the all around fucked-upedness of wearing blood during that "banging Billy Bob Thornton" phase, turning adopted foreign children into the equivalent of a handbag trend, grossing out the world by making out with her brother, and not having constant feuds with her famous daddy, this chick would have been distant memory as soon as dudes were done freeze framing Gia. She's a beyond terrible "actress", and I'm honestly blown away that people are still trying to dance around that. She's just first round Megan Fox that actually sorta made it someone by hanging onto the right ladder rungs. That's it.
Starting to think that the title "Mistress of Evil" refers to Queen Ingrith, not Maleficent. I'm excited. It looks to be a new take on the original tales continuation of the story where Prince Phillip's mother was an evil ogre, though I am not sure if they are particularly taking the ogre approach with this one.
I enjoyed the first one, but sorta in spite of several of its major features. It was kinda ripping off Wicked's shtick and Frozen's message, and the whole thing felt like it was written by an angry Wiccan literary critic. None of that is offensive to me, but it did feel like it was leaning on "radical" ideas that are actually pretty well worn.
