    1) What’s with the crotch pose? I notice a lot of Japanese toys posed as such. I tried it myself and it looks weird in real life.

    2) Is there any art work of an alt mode for Optimus using this design? Or at least point me in the direction of which comic would have it?

It's just a pose a lot of Japanese toys and art has to make a character look more dynamic. Of course doing it in real life you will look incredibly awkward but that's mostly because unlike these figures we don't really have the exaggerated, stylized designs and proportions necessary for it to work. It's pulling off one of those JoJo poses in real life, it doesn't exactly work going from one medium to the next.

As for that question? There's no art for a truck mode though really, I don't get why this is such an issue for some people. This is supposed to be a stylized, anime-inspired model kit of Optimus Prime that's in the vein of series like Gundam or at least in Studio OX's more exaggerated designs. I don't think the logic of "How does it transform?" needs to be applied here.

Not a major issue. I just am curious to see that particular style of Prime’s alt mode. I like to see different interpretations of the character and considering the unique look of his chest piece and shoulder kibble, I was interested in seeing his alt mode. Remember even though he’s a model kit, he’s still a Transformer, and the ”How does it transform?” logic would still apply. Especially if you look at his axe having truck kibble as well, a good artist would have considered a potential transformation sequence even if it wasn’t fleshed out completely.

Admittedly I'm fairly interested in seeing that as well but honestly it's not the most important to me. Besides this kind of thing is something you see a lot in Transformers where the robot mode doesn't really look like it transforms because the design cheats a bit to make him look more aesthetically pleasing.

Just picked up my copy of IDW Prime from my local Barnes and Noble. I was surprised to see that it cost the same as other online retailers.

Now I'm just trying to decide if I want to go through the hassle of painting him up a bit before assembling.

Does anybody have any screen caps handy of IDW Prime in his "most frequent" color arrangement? I feel like the red and blue on the kit are a bit too vibrant and need to be a bit more muted.

A year ago I wouldn't have looked twice at this, especially since I have Nemesis.

    Noooooow...

Are you meaning something like this? From what I can find looking at the comics, this version of Optimus basically has these colors most commonly.

Yeah that's basically what I'm looking for. Now I just need to find the right shades of paint to match.

Anyone have any recommendations? Also, for kits like this is it easier to use spray paint or air brush?

Unfortunately I don't paint models myself so I can't really answer that.

Yeah, I feel like they're mixing evil Optimus Primes. I think it should be either normal red Autobot logo(G1 Black Convoy) or normal purple Decepticon logo(Nemesis Prime). Maybe the upside down G2 Autobot logo from RiD Scourge/Decepticons. Otherwise, if they're going to use SG Autobot logos, it should be SG Prime.

Still looks fucking sick as hell and nothing some Reprolabels can't fix.

For sure. I would’ve settled with some decepticon ones preferably.
